Help choose our icon

Hey everyone, wondering if I could get your opinions on these two different styles of icons. The left uses in game sprites the right uses cover art. I believe the right is more eye catching, but the left may draw in those who like retro platformers, as it makes it pretty clear what the game is like.

Looking for people's opinions, which would you be more likely to click on and possibly purchase (.99 cent)

I would say the one on the right, just my opinion.

If you are submitting to google play, you can submit with both icons and have them show 50/50 or whatever percent you want, you can then see which one gets downloaded more. Great way to test.

I like the left one more but the right one might get you more clicks ... And yes Google Play lets you setup different campaigns to experiment and see which works best for you ...

It is great, you can create different experiments and set the percentage of the audience who views it. Also you can experiment with more than just the app icon.

I would play left. Right looks like Japanese style game that I don't like to play. But may get you more clicks.

The left also...if I had ONLY the icon to chose from. It looks like from game play and so I would know this game is retro and because just that one image looks high quality and thought put into it...I choose the left.

I'm leaning towards the left too..I think it gives a better idea of what the game is about like you said! Perhaps use the left icon and try a brighter background or with a border since many are saying that the one on the right would get more clicks
