    The iPad Pro is 2732 x 2048.
Does anyone think Apple will start asking for 4k artwork soon as a minimum?

@strag gamesalad only allows artwork the size of 2048 x 2048 and lower

Seems very unlikely as it isn't 4K

You may already know this guys, but 4K is 3840 x 2160 ie four times HD 1920 x1080.

4k is 4096 pixels across, the iPad Pro is only 2732.

Yeah, but typically it depends who you work for :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4K_resolution

@socks do you know the aspect ratio?

    4:3, like the other iPads.

Unfortunately that information is secret at the moment, Apple are not saying what the aspect ratio is until the iPad Pro is released and in the shops, all we know is that the resolution is 2732 x 2048 pixels (but obviously that doesn't tell us anything about the aspect ratio) - Googling 'iPad Pro aspect ratio' will of course give you numerous so called "answers" including Apple's own claim that the iPad Pro is 4:3, but who is to say these are not faked websites put out there to fool us into thinking information like this is commonly available ?

My own guess is that it is likely to be 16:3

    It's not quite 4:3 . . . . it's

    4.00195312499992:3
    or
    1.333984375:1

(but what's a pixel between friends).

    4:3 (from a 2732 pixel width) would be 2049 (rather than 2048).

    / pedant

P.S. Your image assets (presuming you are using a standard iPad project) would need to be x2.66.

From what I can see we are already set up to produce iPad Pro projects as GameSalad currently stands, by that I mean no update is required from GameSalad - although it would be great at some stage down the road to utilise force touch.

@Socks I thought all you did was get the screens height and divide it by 2

I think he's talking about the mathematical formula.

    Screen Height (s + H) divided by 2 = Aspect Ratio (a%)

    (s+H)/2 = a%

We were taught it only in high school back in my day, but nowadays I think it is fourth grade of elementary school when it is taught. Blame all the iPads for this development.

I'm sure it will only get worse with the iPad Pro.

Still not sure what it means, I don't know what (s + H) indicates ? Does it mean screen plus height ?

The aspect ratio of a shape is the ratio of the X to Y dimensions.

If you were to divide the screen height of an iPad . . . (I am going assume the longer side - and the measurement is in pixels rather than inches ?) . . . by 2 you will get 1024, but an aspect ratio requires two numbers, 1024 (or any single number) cannot be an aspect ratio.

For example a screen size of 1536 x 2048 and a screen size of 10 x 2048 would both have an aspect ratio of 1024 under this scheme !!? (If I understand it correctly).

The iPad Pro is effectively just a larger iPad screen, the aspect ratio is the same as it's been for iPads for the last half decade or so.

    ...last half decade or so.

Sounds so much longer than just 5 years...

    It's about a week short of 5 years and 6 months . . . . !
