Woohoo! This is exciting! My first "proper" game, Max Vector Resolution, an 8-Bit inspired 2D side-scrolling shooter is now available in the app store. Here's the trailer and iTunes link. Enjoy!

Cheers!
By the way... is the Beefy Clyro thing anything to do with "Biffy Clyro"? Some name I saw here on TV in Melbourne... something to do with AFL... I'm a Kiwi so have no idea... LOL.
Now if you'd show me yours, I'll show you mine. (high score.. lol)
UH OH! I just noticed something... I selected ARM7 only but nowhere in the App Store does it state this... does it still let people download it? That's not fair as it won't run on anything less than a 3GS!
Downloaded this onto my C64 and it doesn't work. It only works on my iPhone.
WHAT WERE YOU THINKING????
Tested this, so knew it was good. Instant buy (after you reminded me to buy it in chat).
Good luck mate, glad you made a game you wanted to, and look forward to more stuff from ya!

The game looks good and everything, but it's just too laggy. I'm playing it on an iphone 3gs, so I should have no problem, but the only moments were the game is not laggy, is when I do not shoot, in the second level with the asteroids. Until I reach the boss, there slowdowns again.
I reached the boss of level 3, here I died cause the ship won't follow my finger. I mean, the ship follows my finger, but teleporting. Staying still for a sec, then teleporting to my finger. In the meantime, big fatty purple ball hitting me.
I played it for half an hour, cause I really like the retro style, but it just doesn't feel right.
Not to mention that I was forced to reset it one time, cause it got too laggy and bullets won't spawn anymore (just 2-3 bullets after I hit the button 10 times), maybe a ram issue.
Anyway, I think it has potential and can really be fun, but it has to be optimized to at least run flawless on the latest devices. I'll leave a good review anyway, I have big hopes for this
GL,
Darren.
I will try and optimise the crap out of it for an update too.
I've never had it not spawn bullets either... and I've played it for hours at a time! Very odd.
I was reading something about this and people were saying that because of the screenshot issue, their ranking were falling down by 50-100 and sales were going down by a lot
Poor show on Apple's part.

Bought it by the way!! I LOVE IT, runs really well on my device
Glad you like the game and it runs well! Some people seem to have issues with 3GS devices and others state it runs fine! WEIRD!
I am working on an update that should speed things up significantly too... hopefully release it in day or two.
All a learning curve, I guess. Let's see if we can get this running on older devices! I love a challenge!
Expect an update in the App Store in a day or two (or however long it takes Apple to process them).
I'll buy and review for you!
I've left a 5 star on itunes and I mean it, great work.
I guess 2 bits of constructive criticism would be that the thumb to move control scheme is not that great, obscures too much of the screen and as people said, it jumps. It's crying out for a nice little thumb stick in the bottom left (was the reason for the controls a technical one with the joystick multi-touch and the fire button?). Second would be frame rate and speed during boss battles, on my 3GS it slowed down at these points and then the ship did jump from point to point (even with my thumb held down).
On the ipad it is superb. Really fast and the controls work better for the bigger screen. I would take the project file and scale it up with the graphics at the same res. they are now and release it for ipad as well.
Your arm7 option is working fine. It won't allow an install to my 8gb ipod touch 3g (which are just 2gs rebadged in case you were gonna buy one!).
After I've played this I'm going back and replaying some old school shmups and platformers!
Great job and I actually found the controls to be quite smooth and not an issue at all
@Shizane - they just gave me the music, none of it made for the game.
@StusApps - thanks for that! The update is well underway. I have it running nicely on 3GS and even playable on 2G iPod Touch (though a little slow). It seems people aren't as tolerable of slow-down these days. LOL. I think I will release an iPad version too... need one to test the bloody thing on though!
@Butterbean - CHEERS!
