Help with IAP naming on itunes

I was going to start a rant at just how backward itunes/connect are but I will save that for another day - on to my issue
I created a new app on itunes but I had to start again, so created a new profile etc - figured out the new BS .ipa. However, under my old app, I created an IAP called 'item' and a leaderboard.
I tried to use the same IDs for the newer version(totally new app name) but it kept saying 'id is in use' and I removed the links, deleted both the IAP and leaderboard but yet it keeps throwing up this error. Is apple really this anal?
Or is there a way I can use the same ID without having to go back to my app and actually renaming everything in there?
thanks

No mate, once used its gone forever. You will have to change it in your purchase table and upload again with another version number as we don't have access to build numbers????
Yes, it's gone. It seemed quite lame to me too at first, but there might be a reason for apple to keep their code fresh to avoid unnecessary bugs. And the best way you can manage your IAPs is just number them.
cheers guys. Now I remember why I regret publishing on itunes sometimes lol
