Does GS support FHD and QHD?

What does "resolution independence" actually mean? Does it mean all resolutions will supported even very high ones like QHD?
Because I have a Nexus 6 and I noticed the game is a lot slower on it than it is on my Nexus 7 which has like half the processing power.
Has it something to do with the fact that the Nexus 6 is QHD and the Nexus 7 is FHD?
If I unchecked the resolution independence will my game perform better on my Nexus 6?

What do you guys think?

Basically when you checkRI the publishing system will add scaled down versions of your images to the project. RI was instituted when Apple introduced their retina display. This allowed for two sets of images, If you used double size images for RI when you publish it produced scaled down images for non retina devices. I'm not sure it does anything for android devices. You'll notice if you don't check RI when importing, the double size images don't get auto scaled to the half size to work with in creator. Since all devices for apple are now retina I check RI for importing and when I publish I uncheck RI so I don't get the added images for non retina devices.

Like Oasis says it's kind of becoming irrelevant now as most iPads are Retina.

You don't need the RI button to support higher (higher than Retina iPad) resolution devices, you can simply make your assets higher resolution.

It should make no difference other than a smaller (on disk) file size.
