Using URL behavior as your own personal Ads system?
Is it possible to bypass using a ads service and sell ad space to your specific nich?
Example.
I have a app that revolves around the Billiards and Pool Community. I dont want my ads to pop up and advertise the next box office movie, the new razor for men, or the new ford focus. I want my ads to revolve around the nich of my app.
So I was wondering is there a way to use URL behaviors to randomly go to a url of my choosing.
http://www.mysite.com/ADpage1
http://www/mysite.com/ADpage2
And so on.
This way the app doesnt have to be updated and resent to apple for approval, each time my customer base changes. The app will always blindly go to a random ADpage. And as time goes on. I simply change the ad that is assigned to that AdPage URL.
Then At the beginning or each scene. A random behavior is used and if random is:
1 go to url 1
2 go to url 2
3 go to url 3.
This week url 3 might advertise a pool event. and next week it might advertise a pool table company.
Is this possible?

Just use the open url behaviour? Or am I missing the point?
I'm guessing he wants a custom banner type set up!
Ah, of course
Well as far as I know you can store images in a mysql database, and we can get that info, but not sure if GS i capable to show them.
At launch have your app download a table with all the ad information. You could use information stored in that to create a simple dynamic banner system. When custom fonts come out it will be even easier.

How will you track the ad display and get revenue?

can i test this with a adhoc build? or would i have to submit a app and test it that way? Does the URL behaviors work in adhoc?
If so. When one of my url behaviors is triggered. When I close the page out. Do I go straight back to the app automatically? Or do I have to ope the app again? Does opening a url take me out of the app?
there used to be an embedded browser option, i have not used it in a few years so I'm not sure how it works, but it keeps you in the app when you close it. otherwise it drops you out of the app.
it will work with an adhoc build.

Be sure to also check...but I believe you and I talked about this once over Skype when we were also discussing my slots....I believe Apple will not allow an "ad" without it being an ad to which is another app you have in your App Store. Not 100% but my spidey senses tell me so.

I remember. But Im not advertising other apps. I would be selling ad spots to other people. Company that makes the cloth for pool tables. A company that makes cue sticks. A company that makes chalk for cue tips. A company that makes cue tips. A company that streams events onlines. Advertising other services.
Will be interesting to see if it's approved. Let us know? :-)

I haven't used this much either but I think the embedded browser only worked on iOS and on an Android device it opened an external browser no matter what.
