Do we have to show the price tag on the in-app purchase within the game?

Does anyone know for sure if we have to show the price tag on a in-app purchase button?
As it is shown correctly in the following iOS native pop up right after.

Don't think so. Never heard anyone got rejected for not showing prices. As you say it's show right after a user clicks it. But, Apple do like UI clarity so why not :)

jeah I just don't like the dollar signs in the app by looking at it right now. So i hope your right I prefer having a tag saying "BUY".

If you look at most of the remove ads buttons out there they just say remove ads or no ads and does not display any price. So I think you are good to go :)

@BigDave, the question is, do you just want to pass appstore approval, or be EU and Consumer policy compliant?

    -

    To stick to iOS Guidelines,

"Always display the name and cost of each item" and

"Ensure that users have to be very intentional about purchasing an item and that the
purchase process can’t be started by accident."

    -

If you want to be EU/UK compliant,

then the price needs to be shown BEFORE the user initiates a purchase action.

Also, all IAPs need to be presented to the user even BEFORE download. This means you should include a screenshot of all IAPs on the appstore. This is a requirement regardless of the fact that a IAP is just option or to actually unlock gated content.

Also, inside the app, the price needs to be displayed in the users regional currency.

    thanks @Hopscotch
so "I have to" show the price in any case. But apple might be tolerant as they do it in many of ketchapp's games with the remove ads symbol without the pricing tag.

    @BigDave,

you can have just a "no ads" symbol,

but clicking it should take them to a simple shop scene displaying the price, description, and buy button,

which then only connects to iTunes.

Remember, this is the "right" compliant way for your example. What apple allows on any given day is a mystery. :)

Personally I would suggest showing a price.

A lot of apps don't. And when you click on the 'buy' button, the first pop-up is simply to log into your App Store account. No price shown at all. So I are asked to give your password before the price is even shown to you.

Generally, I avoid purchases like that, just to be on the safe side.

I'll second @pHghost on that... I think its preferred by most users to see the prices upfront, as early as possible.

Having the button show the price after the user has clicked it just seems wrong, and for me, makes me feel like the developer is trying to scam/trick me in some way... so it tends to just put me off.

If I can see all the prices upfront, then Im more trusting of the developers intention, and thus more likely to buy something.

Don't quote me on this, but I have a vague recollection about hearing submissions being rejected if the price isn't drawn from the AppStore before its displayed. So, like how they recently adjusted the prices in Canada to compensate for the exchange rates (everything went up from 0.99 to 1.29); if your prices were baked in, they would be showing the wrong price. I think the thing where people don't show a price at all is a workaround, 'cause if you're drawing from the store you also need error handling for when there's no connection, so it gets complicated and burdensome.

One of my apps had a static price shown but it said USD,
My Salt & Pepper 2 game actually pulled prices from Apple,
My latest app didn't display anything but remove ads...

    All 3 were approved lol...
