Testing on an iDevice

rob.ertrob.ert Member Posts: 42
I'm starting to get to the point on my game where I need to test it on an actual device before I go any further. But, from what I'm gathering, I have to pay $200! 99 for Apple license, 9 for GameSalad. Is there absolutely any way I can test it without paying all that right now? Thanks in advance!

Sorry if I'm sounding like a beggar, I'm only 13 and don't exactly have $200 in my wallet. :)

No you cant because you need to add certificates and provisioning profiles to be able to play apps that are not on the appstore.

Hey dude, I'm 17, if you really need to make money, go mow some lawns or do yardwork or something... If you really want to, you can... Thats what I did. I needed exactly $1012.00 (This was before I could drive and get a real job)

    $99 GS license
    $99 Apple License
    $200 ipod touch
    $600 Mac mini

Also, what I've seen a couple members doing is if you don't have the money. Make a game in GS and publish it on the website and make a new thread offering to sell it to somebody. Then they can pay you via paypall or whatever and you just send them the Gamesalad project. If your motivated you can do this also.

BTW, I've already recouped my initial investment, just making games for the app store :D I've made some money actually putting games on the app store, but I've made most of it by making games for clients. :)

Also your lucky you only need $200!

Good luck and welcome to the forums!

What Chosenonestudio is telling you is the best advise ever.
You need to test it on a devices because if you wait until you have create a lot then you may have to face the same problem I am facing right now. I waited until I finish my game to buy the subscription and everything and it is very different from what you see in the computer. The buttons may be to small or don't get the touch right or you don't see all the details that you see in the computer. Any way it is very different. The next game I make its going to be, 1 rule = 1 test on the device.
    Good luck getting that money.

you can test it on the devise without the apple membership by jailbreaking.

But you still can't publish it to an iphone binary without the GS license.
