Keyboard input - edits for notes

Hi folks,
So I have a keyboard input to make notes in game. I've hit a snag because when I've written a note I cant seem to edit it after. Going back to keyboard input make me write the whole note again. Any way I make keyboard input recognise previous input and be able to move the cursor in it to make edits? Or should I be looking into a custom keyboard and custom text display option?
