actor detection and firing

hi all

i am looking to make an actor to detect other actors and shoot on them automatically , because i am adding different typs of actors with different kind of weapons and location about more than 30 actors , the examples i show may lead to slow the game out a lot and may make it bad .

i have seen few examples which uses other actors to detect but this can way be used on large number with different actors ?

in simple way can actor by itself detect other actors and shoot on them ?

i am only missing this part to get my game up and running.
