Does the function textfind not recognise text attributes as a pattern?

I've been trying to use the textfind function and it doesn't seem to be working. If I use it and use a text attribute where I am supposed to place the pattern its meant to look for it doesn't find it. However, when I directly place a text pattern, ie "D" it finds it just fine. Rather problematic since pattern changes hence the need to use an attribute. The even odder thing is when I tried nesting in an earlier rule that determined said text attribute even the text pattern "D" would not be found. Any ideas?

It should find using an attribute as the pattern. Probably something else wrong.
