Compiling and publishing, on an NON-Apple Mac

Has anyone had any luck getting their game on the App store, by using a Hackintosh? I haven't tried it yet but i know that when you go to compile and publish using Corona it will not work if you have a hackingtosh so i wonder if that will be the same using GS.

Good question. I had a Hackintosh and everything worked fine but I must admit I never tried any devving on it... be good to know!

Be interesting to see. I shouldn't see why it wouldn't work. I believe corona compiles using your own xcode on the machine, gamesalad does not. So it should work ok, not sure about building things like the viewer on it, depends if xcode would work.

Yeah, im almost ready to buy the GS and Apple dev licenses and man i will be upset if i can't use them.
I had 2 macs (Mac Mini and a Macbook Pro) but had to sell them (needed the money) Now i have 2 Hackintoshes.
    I miss my Macs.

God I really Hope so since Im in the same boat. it would really suck to put the work in on the GS game and spend the money and not be able to submit it. Im truly hoping my game takes off and i can afford to buy a real mac though. lol although i would imagine most app are not exactly get rich quick schemes. lol

Here is the link to the corona forum that talks about hackintosh. http://developer.anscamobile.com/forum/2009/12/17/note-hackintosh-users

Maybe i should just go ahead and buy the GS and pay apple and find out for myself. I will need to soon anyway.

Certainly possible, there have been app store releases that came from a hackintosh, in the long run a mini from ebay will be cheaper.

I have been doing all my dev GS work on a hackintosh machine with no issues. I used the Rebel-EFI setup during install of OSX (which I purchased from apple) and have never had any problems. All OS updates work.

I have a macbook pro also but prefer to use a desktop with big screen/cpu for dev work.

    My bad, apparently you can.

    Binary,
I used empire efi for intial boot, then installed snow leopard. everything works without a single problem. i was just curious if it would actually compile. What motherboard are you using? I heard Rebel-EFI is picky.

Very true haha, but yeah your idea is definately something to consider :D When I'm not too terribly busy, I'll give it a go. If you want to discuss this a little bit more....
