It didn't make a difference for my app, but it could for yours :)

I was featured on the front of Touch Arcade and only got a handful more downloads. Seriously, most buyers never go to these sites, they just "impulse buy" what they see in the app store. I definitely wouldn't PAY for a review, either.

Yeah, getting featured on T.A is MUCH better than having a review from some website, or Twitter page, even if they have thousands of followers

Actually, I agree with @butterbean and @POLYGAMe I have since taken down my advertising. Where I have some leverage is on YouTube and iTunes. My YouTube channel has around 2100 subscribers and most videos are viewed over 1,000 times with a much higher conversion than my site. My podcast channel on iTunes had 50,000 downloads for July, but I have no conversion numbers. I don't have any for YouTube other than messages I get telling me they are buying their app.

Marketing your iPhone or iPad app is not easy and I suggest you start your marketing efforts before you even build your app.

    thanks

    Mike
