Hey guys .. I'm getting near finish of my first GAME.. although No graphics yet , but I was wondering , how do you end a never ending game?!?! I mean let's take doodle jump for example, (and I'm not making a jumping game)
Does it have an end?! Or does it force you to fail ?!
My game has the same concept...
So, how do you suggest to end this type of game?!

Couldn't say without knowing what the game is about.

    Last resort is a timer.

Yeah I guess you got a point there .. Well the game is like a Non stoping Actions the gamer needs to perform.. But my question Is not about what rules or behaviours you should use, but for ideas for how to end it.. Or should I let it be endless?!
    Thanks for the reply though

Yeh you could do it so if they fail the action it saves the score which you need to beat.
Or a timer to see how many actions they could do in x mins.

Can't really think of another way. I wouldn't make it endless though takes away replay value.

As we see in "the king of kong" (movie about Donkey Kong & other classics), EVERY game has an end at some point - when the code crashes because of too much score, levels, etc. ;-)

(of course, now we know better than to let that happen? ...right?)

I say set up some very lofty goals - if players start actually reaching them,
you can add more in an update!

Make it endless. Endless modes in games tend to sell well.

Make an endless elbow licking game.. That would shoot to the top!

I have the sense that people want more out of games these days than JUST ever higher scores (hence the craze towards "Accomplishments")

Some games dont even have score any longer, only quests.

Personally, if it is an action oriented game, I think people would eventually want an ending.

Otherwise, how do they capture their highest score?

How can you brag to your friends about a high score?

Do I just keep playing until I get bored and shut it off?

What if there is no mechanism in the game that tells me that the game never ends?

I think in twitch games you either eventually win the game (level based) or you fail (you run out of lives, time, etc.).

Good luck figuring out an ending.

as for now , as the game progress it just become to difficult to handle so it kinda force the player to fail (the speed slowly increase etc..) , maybe ill get an inspiration to an ending,
    during the proccess..

    TSHIRTBOOTH!! :
does stardaze hd has an end?! (I wish i could play it to figure it out by my self but i dont have an ipad.................. yet )

Having a score based game with GS games will only get you lots of..."No online leaderboards?!?" comments.

This is one of the most desired features from me but hey it will probably be a pro feature so count me out:P

    Darren.

Hmmm... And until the pro version comes down to a reasonable amount for what amounts to an annual subscription for a beta product, I'll have to either stay in the Express version or look at going back to Xcode.
