Need working positional sound example - please.

Hi Guys,

I've been pulling my hair getting simple positional sound to work, so far without any luck. Position of sound actor does not affect sound in any way. Could anyone provide an example ?

Attached is my gamesalad project file.

Thanks so much in advance.

Peter

Had no joy with this myself - the tickbox seems to do diddly-squat - However, Armelline created an excellent alternative example video - where you can base all sound volumes based on distance etc - though it obviously won't be able to position left/right etc, as GS doesn't seem to provide functionality to output sound to different channels?

    Not sure if that helps?

GameSalad changed the way it converts audio some time ago - I can't remember which version this happened with, I think sometime after 13.39 but before 1.24.

In the older system, GameSalad did an appalling conversion job with 'Sound' files, the great stereo sound effect you'd lovingly crafted in Garageband, Logic or Audacity, had the Right channel stripped out leaving the left channel as a mono sound. As well as lowering the overall volume by 4 or 5dB.

In the newer system, GameSalad retains the original stereo Left and Right channels and keeps the volume the same as the source file, so is much much better !

Unfortunately this screwed up 'Positional Sound' as 'Positional Sound' relies on a mono source to work.

The solution: To get 'Positional Sound' to work you need to import your Sound as a mono OGG file.
