Dash till Puff! Particles ?

How can I make a particle system like the one in this game called the flame Up the blow! I am referring to the particles generated by the sphere

    Do you have a link to the game? Or a short video clip of the effect? I'm not even sure what the name of the game is...

    During game play It looks like 5 or 6 square actors are being randomly spawned from player. The squares alpha interpolate to 0 in .2 seconds. Adjust time till it looks good.

    At the start they move out in all directions. You would need some move behavior to the actors.

    During game play the objects have a bit of swirling movement. Using sin in their constrained y position for a litttle up and down.

    Lots of adjusting. Playing with it...........

    Initial size might be a litttle random too.

    I took screen shots of game. They are square.

    I don't think the particle size changes but a video of game play slowed down would help determine what is exactly happening.

    It's a cool effect.
