Can you update an Apple app that isn't for sale anymore?

I have an app that was for sale in the Apple app store for years, but I took it down about a year ago.

It was a 32-bit app, and I'd like to update it for the people who bought it over the years, but I don't want to make it actively for sale again.

Does anyone know if that is possible given that the app isn't for sale anymore? In other words, if I upload an update to an app that isn't for sale, will people who bought the app in the past be able to download the update?
