Upside down custom load screens: who else is having this problem?

Code Monkey has been working on this for me for a few months now. Seems the problem popped up when the auto rotation was introduced. I've been dealing with it by turning and submitting the load screen upside down and that has worked.

I know a couple others have mentioned this issue, but could you post as such so it might help GS figure out what's going on?

My latest update of Food Fight! has the load screen upside down because I was told the issue was fixed, but obviously isn't. My other two apps have the screen displaying correctly, but as I said, they were submitted upside down. Nesen Probe update was just approved two days ago.

The standard GS load screens load fine, this is just a pro version issue.

I get the same issue, but on the iPad it displays correctly. So if i turn the image upside down then attach, it works fine on iPhone/iPod Touch, but upside down on iPad.

(It starts off right on the iPad but then flips the wrong way :-/)

Really? Very weird. I'll pass that along to codemonkey, but I would guess he keeps up with the forums. I don't have an iPad, so I didn't know that, or can't test my apps to see if they work differently.

    It's weird.

I've always considered the 'home button on the left' to be 'the right way up'.

It always narked me a bit that our games were the 'wrong way round' compared to other games.

So for me, the loading screen loads up the 'right' way, even though technically it may appear upside down due to the wheel spinning top left instead of bottom right.

    So, er, 'yeah' :D

Did you submit your Quantum Sheep load screen upside down for Kracken? I see it is oriented correctly to the game.

I hold my iPhone with the home button to the right? :S

@QS, is our ceiling your floor? :P

That's the thing mate. The QS load screen was put in the 'right' way up in GS when I submitted. I didn't put it in upside down.

So if you hold the phone with the 'Home' button on the left, the splash screen displays correctly and the game loads up in that orientation just fine.

All that's wrong, really, is the position of the loading wheel, which is top left instead of bottom right :D

The orientation thingy works fine if your game is in portrait mode. Xmas 2097, for example, had the image put in 'as is' - not upside down. And that works fine.

Or your floor's my ceiling ;)

When I started using the viewer last year, and we didn't have auto-rotate, GS games would load with the home button on the right.

It just felt wrong for a couple of reasons:

    1. Most other iPhone titles I'd tried at the time loaded with the home button on the left. This was the 'correct' orientation for me, and GS was bucking that trend.

    2. Some people play with headphones in. At the time, I only had an ipod 1st gen. An iPhone, typically, has the headphone jack on the top left if you hold it in portrait. Playing a game with the home button on the right means your hands will clash with the headphone socket.

    Hope that helps,

    QS :D
