Disable chrome dev tools?

How can someone disable chrome dev tools? I looked up how to, and I tried starting chrome with a " --disable-dev-tools", wouldn't accept that as a flag. Tried using big dashes, still to no success. Where is chrome command prompt? Can anyone verify that that command actually works? Thanks everyone. 
Oh, and please speak in layman's terms, as I am not an expert, hehe.
