What are the optimal bit rates and khh for an mp3 in gamesalad?

For background music your file should be .m4a
For sound effects, your files should be saved as .ogg
Now, you can chuck .mp3s and .wav files into GameSalad and it will convert them for you, but I think it is best to do all of that yourself so you have control over it.
Audacity is free audio software that will make both formats for you. I highly recommend it. Plus you can add lots of filters, effects, fade-ins/outs, make sure the levels are correct, etc. to your tracks and fine-tune them.
I recommend saving all your audio as mono, as stereo sounds are essentially two mono sounds and eat up twice as much RAM.
I recommend 22Khz for the frequency.
GameSalad can also handle .caf files which are uncompressed and generally sound better - at the cost of a larger file size.
