I just wanted to ask where do you gamesalad developers go for your game animations? Do you guys do them yourself or have actual professionals do them? (i.e. character animations)
Due to GameSalad being a "visual" game engine, I'd say theres a decent size portion of the community that come from some sort of graphics background.
And for the rest.... theres always Ian (DebugDesign).......
Oh trust me I know Ian he's been awesome with everything he is doing. I was just curious to see how many of you guys actually did it yourself or had professionals.
Hey Shizane you do your own do you have a portfolio I could look at if possible just to see your work? Don't worry I haven't forgotten to e-mail you those papers either I just been very busy I will get to them soon.
Sleeper hit hehe thanks, we'll see! Going to do iPad first and then see if I can optimize it till the cows come home for the other idevices...I'm kinda waiting for GS to update so I can finish it as it's just creeping by when I'm working on it.
I own/run Aeropause Games, too. It's a popular game site, been around for 5 years. http://www.aeropause.com
For my current project...I am using sketchup (and 3DStudio at times). For a gun recoil animation...I simply rotated the gun into 6 different angles and then saved a frame image for each position from a 1st person perspective...and then used photoshop to cut out the white background.
Its easy...looks great and sketchup is free (lite version).
Sketchup is perfect for quickly modeling and creating sprite forms (especially if you can't draw). I can draw fairly well personally...but I usually model things rather than draw from scratch...as its faster and easier to modify later if necessary. It gives flat 2D art that simulated 3D look.
