Importing asset (to actor) 'stuck' on importing for 8+ hours

After editing (double click) an Actor and dragging a .jpeg the import popup starts, and does nothing (progress bar at 1). Select stop and you can see that the Actor now has the .jpeg. However, when you navigate back to the Scene and drag the Actor it is now white. Tried saving/closing/reopen, same behavior.

    My guess is that it's either not really a jpeg or the API we're using to automatically convert assets are deprecated.

    I'd need to look into it more, but here are two things to try:

    1) Convert it to PNG

    2) Make sure it's smaller than 4048x4048 for desktop or 2024x2024 for mobile (though I'm guessing now-a-days mobile can handle 4048x4048x).

    Mac GS limits import to 2000 on a side, but it'll tell you if you try to import bigger and reject the import, not stall like that. I'd definitely try the converting to PNG first. First I'd delete the file from the image tab if it's listed, and check the image folder and delete it there it wasn't actually deleted (right click .. show package contents .. images).
