Don't know if this was posted before. But adding a simple ruler system where you can drag guides onto the Scene view to align buttons & objects that are static that would an amazing addition.

Yup has been proposed numerous times. I made a grid image I use to help a bit in placement and then I delete it once I'm done. It is here if it is any help to you:

You can rotate it if you need it verticle.

    Thanks for posting this.

Will be helpful until an official grid system is integrated.

    Happy to help:

did an iPad one as well:

also don't forget you can zoom in on a Mac screen with Control > scroll wheel on mouse (or zoom in with option + command and plus sign) and zoom back out with Option + command and minus sign. All those help get the placement right.

    Seriously needed IMHO

Way, way too long overdue - It's all about getting the basics right.... and this is a small part of the reason GS is languishing so badly from being considered a mainstream dev tool.

It's not difficult to do either, they've curiously elected not to create this fundamental feature.

have you tried using the level editor? makes tidying-up your scenes and lining up things a lot easier. some of its functionality should be incorporated into gs, but for now, it works great as a companion to gs.

@bob loblaw , I agree. I used the level editor extensively on a recent project and it was indispensable.

@lilli it's weirdly more difficult than you'd think. We use the game engine itself for layout in the native tools (unlike in the HTML5 tool), so we'd have to add a grid as an engine feature to get it to work right!

We'll be adding it to the HTML5 tool sooner than later (as the scene layout there is independent from the engine and its own thing).
