MONTHS and months ago someone offered me Cash via email to help them write a novel about GS.

Did any of you ever get the same job offer?

Cheers.

Before writing The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook, I had a lengthy email conversation with someone from Packt Publishing. Although, it wasn't some random email. There was a forum post on this website and I responded to it. I was already planning to write the book, so I figured that I should check it out. For some reason, they lost interest in the book. Regardless, I continued working on the book. I self-published it and I think it worked out well. Apple has featured the book multiple times. Even now, it's in the "What's Hot" section for iPhone book apps.

It was a scam because the same person came back to me offering to sell me all his games and sent me a link to the developer "EA"

Leonard I'm pretty sure photics will not appreciate you using his artwork for your own stuff free or not.

Packt Publishing is indeed a legitimate publishing house. I have ordered books through them.

They (evidently) did find someone to write a book for them. According to their website it is scheduled to be published in March 2012 and its title will be, GameSalad Beginners Guide. The author of the book is Miguel DeQuadros.

Best of luck to the author!

Yeah, I got a message that a Packt publishing GameSalad book was on the way. I checked the website...
    Packt Publishing Website:
Only book to cover GameSalad in such detail and with examples
That statement doesn't seem quite accurate to me. Maybe they're not aware of my book. That's why I'm not so worried about the launch. I think it will actually lead to more exposure for The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook.

yep, i told them forget it :)
If i were to write a book it would not be so someone else can make the money off it thats for sure.
I think Apple makes a lot of money off of my book. I don't mind. That's because they do a lot of hard work... marketing, e-commerce, development tools, etc. In an ideal scenario, The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook would be The OFFICIAL GameSalad Textbook and it would be sold through the GameSalad website. I'm not sure why that didn't happen. Perhaps it's better this way.

Cool! Do you like the new text zoom feature? I think that should help readability on the iPad.

I'm not sure what that image is about. If I need artwork, I have a copy of Pixelmator.

Today, I'm not doing much of anything. Maybe if GameSalad had straightened out the sound issues with Android... or added Achievements for iOS... I'd be busy working. Instead, I'm just relaxing.

The one thing I hate about a paperback books on programming is they don't get updates like yours Photics and they soon become almost useless.

I'm glad that you noticed the hard work that went into The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook...

...on that page it shows when the five versions were launched.

I'm somewhat concerned about the interface redesign for GameSalad. That could create a lot of work for me. Whenever something graphical changes with GameSalad, I have to go back and update the changed screenshots. Something as simple as the on/off button for behaviors resulted in lots of work for me. But right now, I can relax. The book is up-to-date.

I loved the Gamesalad Text book, when I couldn't use GS at work I use to read it all day at work lol. Especially on Attributes. Text book ftw!
