Hi guys; so now you know the name of the game I'm working on – previously codenamed GGG – it's called Fast Finger Frenzy.

I've started this development thread for your pos. interest, etc; as well as encouragement to keep me focused on this one game until it's finished...

I wrote in a previous thread that this is a game idea which is only about two days old, and I've allowed it to "jump the queue" , to be the 2nd app I'll be releasing.

I'm aiming at having it done and dusted in two months max.....

I've almost finished the menu card – but I've a couple of hours time-out from now to do other things (including dinner... :-) ) so when I get back I'll get a video together to show this beginning.

So catch you then hopefully! :-)

    Hey Bray, you're always encouraging; that's appreciated, thanks! :-)

    Probably another hour and a half max. and I'll have this first progress vid. together....

    So here we go with the first progress video for the action puzzle game called Fast Finger Frenzy.

    The menu card isn't finished yet; and although I welcome any constructive crits as well any other comments, please note that the app will be for the iPad, so the words will be more than big enough to read!

    A small start only although enough for you to see where it's sort of heading (perhaps...); I've made inroads into the first levels already, although I won't be posting any gameplay for Fast Finger Frenzy for a while yet – but I'll keep you informed... :-)

    Thanks guys. :-)

    update: I got fed up with the bright orange of my splash so I've amended that; been working on the game HUD today... another update possibly in a week ahead or less...

    Hi guys, I've not done much more on the menu card today; it's been a day of designing and tweaking the first level, mainly to nail the HUD. It's pretty much there for what I want, and I thought I'd upload a vid. in a hour + half, so you can get a better idea of what Fast Finger Frenzy is about.

    OK, stay tuned if interested...

    Haha! :-) I hope you're not disappointed, Bray...

    ....two thirds uploaded now... I tried an experiment with capturing for YouTube HD; fingers crossed it'll work out OK...

    That's nice to hear, Bray!

    Here's the second progress video for the action puzzle game Fast Finger Frenzy.

    There's my splash, main card, and the first level. The level menu is missing at the moment (mainly because I haven't done it yet!)

    This first level is very simple... but shows the underlying principle of the game, but believe me, the levels will get more complex as well as more difficult as you work through them. THe HUD isn't quite there yet but the majority of what I'm after is there. I planning a neat way to show the user's score.

    Any comments appreciated as always. :-)

    Wow! That HUD is like the coolest thing ever! Very well done!

    One thing I would add is maybe a more lively background. Of course, you're just now starting that app and might have already considered adding a different background, but I just thought I'd mention it.

    Awesome work!

    Very cool man! I would agree with a more lively background though, it will really take the game to the next level. But so far so good! Keep up the great work :)

    Cheers

    @Braydon_SFX @VentoraStudios

    Really pleased with your replies, thank you very much, Bray and Max. :-) Glad you like how it's coming on.

    Spot-on comment about the backgrounds; although I don't want them too light because I want the main actors' bright colours to zing out more; although if they were actually the colours you see in the video, I'd make them lighter straight away for certain!

    I'm seriously considering buying another video-grabbing software; iShowHD isn't giving me great results: as you see it tends to bleach lighter colours and darken the darker ones...not good...

    For your interest, here are some screenshots to show you that the back colours are not as dark as appeared in the vid:

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

    If you still think they're too dark I'll certainly think about lightening them though; but I'm guessing/hoping you'll agree it's OK; especially as there'll be lots of brightly coloured objects all over the screens in later levels. :-)

    Hi David,

    I cannot see the pictures, it's giving me a 404 error...
  • maxbeaumontmaxbeaumont Member Posts: 616
    I see the pictures, those look good David, I wouldnt make them brighter than that, it would ruin the whole color scheme of the game. It looks perfect, keep it up buddy.

    @Braydon_SFX

    Hi Bray, are you still getting the error for interest? If you are, perhaps I'll try different links from Photobucket. Strange that Max can see them but you can't though... :-S

    Yes, I can now see the images, David. Much better, I guess the video darkened the background a bit. :)

    @Braydon_SFX

    Thanks again, Bray. :-) Yes, I'm seriously thinking about buying another video capture software...

    Update : plodding on with the game; maybe another prog. vid in a week or so, when there's significantly more to see...

    Nice work, keep going :)

    If I can give my opinion, you should try changing your background color to grey/white. Something smooth. It would make a difference I think.

    At least you would avoir mixing your gameplay elements with the decorative background. It would also fit with the upper title grid.

    PS: I don't know if you're working on mac but quicktime 10 allows 1080p video/screen captures ;)

    Hi @MrSKYone Thanks for your encouragement & suggestion about the backgrounds. :-)

    Interesting how different people like different things; the backgrounds as they stand are there to add a bit of depth to the screens; when there's a lot of actors on-screen, the background won't be as noticeable, and still will help to make the bright colours zing a bit more... as well as to add a bit of visual interest... that's the idea anyhow...

    I appreciate your suggestion but I'm going to stick with the backs as they are; but thanks again.

    Hey, thanks; I'll check that out! Would that be Quicktime 10 Pro, or isn't there a pro version anymore?

    Hi @MrSkyOne

    just checked out Quicktime 10; hey, I didn't know screen capture has appeared in this version; thanks again! Only thing is, it's a bit feature-less; for instance there doesn't seem to be a way of defining a portion of the screen, it looks to be whole screen only...

    I've been checking out Camtasia yesterday; I might jump ship to them from iShowU HD when I can afford it. :-)
