Adding Chartboost Reward videos

Hi all

So Chartboost has a nice option where you can reward your players for watching a video. And unlike the adverts, I believe that if a user clicks and watches the video, you get some $ and you can reward your user with some in game coins.

I would like to add this to one of my games but can't see any options on how to add this. So ideally looking for the best methods and ideas on how to do this

@Dan_Chartboost‌ any thoughts please? Is this even possible in gamesalad?

    ChartBoost allows the sending of a custom ID along with the video ad request from within the app. @BlackCloakGS‌, please remember to include this, allowing us to populate this field with an attribute of our choice. :)

    This is an immediate need as many devs are noticing a drop in static ad revenue. Users increasingly use ad-blockers. This feature offers a fair way of monetization and even works well and reliable in this demographic which habitually use ad-blockers or switch their phone to flight mode or don't have an internet connection other than wifi. If the IAP is tantalizing enough, they will make a point of connecting and watching an ad to gain the reward.

    If GS is strictly going to follow the feature-implementation by number of votes, then this quick and simple-to-add feature will sadly still be months out, as polyshapes, fonts and Android expansion files would come first, and these will take a lot of time to implement.

    @jigglybean, normal video ads are already working. For rewarded videos, the call is practically the same, except that a CustomID needs to be sent to Chartboost along with the call. It really is a small matter of including an extra parameter in the call.

    Chartboost does send a callback, both back to the app and to a webserver of your choice, depending if the video was watched or cancelled.

    Handling the callback coming back to the app may be a little bit of work, but also not too wild. (in my experience)

    But yes, would be nice if @BlackCloakGS, or someone can give their input.

    @jigglybean‌, we do this and offer it as a service as GS implementation needs to be done carefully.

    The GS part is a little tricky, to match up the callbacks from Chartboost and pair it to the user, but work well.

    Chartboost actually has this set up in a very flexible way.

    It was bitcoin billionaire that got me interested in video rewards, the way they implemented it in the game was flawless. Also the way they did the banner ads.

    I put in my vote for this feature.

    thanks to all those who have voted. Its certainly getting lots of interest. Essentially, we all want to make some money from our games and when something new comes a long, I personally feel this kind of this should be a priority.

    @BlackCloakGS, any comments on this? The work involved?

    Video ads work in GS, but not rewarded Videos, as these need extra parameters in the call to work, as well as the callback to know if an ad was watched.

    I suspect it is unlikely to happen in GS, but maybe Graphene? Can't wait to see what we can do with that!

    Sorry to bring this back up, but has this feature been swept under the carpet? We're coming up to 14 now and no mention of this being implemented into the creator.

    I'm seeing more and more games adopt this alternative paywall style with some very successful, documented successes. So it would be great to see this added to GS's feature set very soon.

    Adding more methods for monetisation and boosting revenue helps to keep us developers fed and watered, and more importantly, give us the chance to continue making great games! :D

    It's not forgotten. It's just that GS team has focused on the creator stability lately, rather than new features. Witch has been a time well spent.
