My graphics are turning white??

I drew all of my own graphics and followed all the instructions leading up to placing them in the scene. However whenever I place them in the scene, they loose color and become almost all white! I wondered if this was a color balance issue or if I had accidentally exported opaque/transparent files, but I double checked and this was not the case. I'm not sure if this is something I have to fix within the application or on the actual art files... Help!
