Export compliance - Does your app use encryption?

I've been going through the guide to iOS publishing and didn't find any mention of export compliance.

I also searched the forums and not much has been discussed on the topic, especially recently.

Do I select yes or no? I'm really hoping yes because the compliance summaries seem annoying to do.

If I don't use advertising or the URL behaviour I always select no here and have had no issues. I think GS might use https for some of their under the hood metrics stuff but I select no anyway unless I'm specifically using https myself.

I selected no. By selecting "yes" they made me provide evidence of encryption, which GS users don't get unless you have your own multiplayer server with encrypted data. "No" made things simple, still waiting for approval for beta testing, expecting that to go through once the weekend ends.

@Armelline So I am using Chartboost for ads... does this mean I have to select "yes" because my game includes advertisements?

I usually select yes and then yes again for the exemption - as the app has encryption to protect the app but its not a core function of it.

I haven't submitted an ad game since they introduced the https demand. Before they didn't consider that or encrypting your game assets to be something you needed to select yes for. They seem to imply that https means yes now, but I've not tested that.

I know its a late post but:

Yes and yes. And we don't have to do the self-report since we really don't collect data and have access to it if I am correct.

So I just went through this for the first time for some testing. Yes & Yes are the answers.

If you're using network behaviors or ads, then you are using HTTPS. Otherwise, GameSalad does encrypt game projects, but it's for copy protections, which passes criteria 2 on their list, so you can hit Yes on the second question.
