Anyone here using a macOS and GameSalad who has updated to Big Sur? Does it run OK, at all?

I've not done much with it yet, but so far it runs fine for me. A couple of very minor UI graphical issues is all I've seen. Nothing that causes problems though.

Some changes in Big Sur I'm really not a big fan of, though.

im running gamesalad 1.25.99 on Big Sur and everything is working fine without any problems.

the only thing i notice is some UI problems but not something that make it unusable... the 'X' to delete behaviors are little small but other then that everything is fine.

    Thanks!

Yeah, there are some changes in Big Sur that make me think twice about upgrading. Not sure about the return to an Aqua-ish visual style and shaded icons as opposed to flat ones. I certainly hope that's not what's in the future of iOS as well...

Now the second question is -- how will GameSalad run on M1? I'm sure there's little chance for it to actually ever run natively on the M1 with the focus on Editor 2.0, but even under Rosetta 2. Will it run? How well will it run?

I'm having some issues in Big Surr occasionally I can't update actor attributes. For example I can adjust the X position, but when I try to update the Y position it just beeps at me.

I am running on an M1 MacBook Air, and it feels just like any other machine, maybe even faster, I have only been dipping my toe back into GS recently so I don't know how much better it is.

This bug pre-dates Big Sur, assuming it's the same one I've encountered. Sometimes attributes just go "NOT TODAY."

What do you say to Death?

good to know, it seems to just be the Y position, X, Width and Height all work fine. Y just shows a white box.

I've generated signed and installed 6 builds today using the 1.25.100 on Big Surr 11.0.1 on the base MacBook Air M1 machine, and that's the only hiccup I've found.

the app has crashed twice, but that honestly just seems par for the course :)

Ah, so nothing's changed there, still good ol' GS! 🤣

I'm going to rescind this. It's definitely worse in Big Sur. I could restart GameSalad to fix any that wouldn't let me edit them before, but now I cannot.

That's good to know, as that is quite a crucial bug!

@adent42 can you check this out please?

It might be later in the week, I'm trying to finish up some stuff before upgrading to Big Sur. Since it's not easy to reproduce, it's probably a threading error.

in Big Surr it's pretty easy to reproduce ;)

It's super easy for me to reproduce.

    1. Create a new project.
    2. Create a new actor.
    3. Enter the actor, either prototype or instance.
    4. Attempt to edit the Y position of the actor. You can't.

Other attributes are affected, both user made and project-default, but that's a nice easy one to see.

I had attribute editing issues in Catalina, but as I mentioned I could always just quit and reopen the project and it would be fine. Right now in Big Sur I'm having to unlock actors and add change attribute behaviours in order to edit instance self attributes. A different attribute editing bug where all displayed attributes (in an actor or scene etc., but only that one actor or scene) would become uneditable was present in Catalina, but oddly hasn't happened once to me in Big Sur and was always fixed by closing and reopening the project.

    Big Sur 11.0.1 (20B29), GS 1.25.100.

I think @adent42 is not on Big Sur yet, which is why for him it's "not easy to reproduce" -- but hopefully once he updates he'll see it and be able to look into it.
