I heard that your way doesn't work in iPad, but not sure if this is true.

When I add a background, I see it's VERY choppy during the deceleration. It shows up a LOT more when I test it on my iPad.

If you make a game for iPad (portrait view) the splash screen will only be visible if you hold the iPad in vertical position.
