Does anyone know what's the difference between QuadCore or 8 Core? I don't know what it does? Anyone know thanks

Consider a core to be another processor. So a quad core 2.66 has 4 processors each capable of running independent tasks (or the same task) therefore not slowing down. An 8 core has 8 processors each running at 2.66. Most laptops are still dual core. However an 8 core is not necessarily twice as fast as a quad as software has to be designed to use all the available cores.

Depending on the software itself it may not help as much as people think :)

Funny that I just found this as I'm very soon about to consider upgrading from my 24" Intel Core 2 Duo to an i7, 2.93Ghz and 8MB ram. The difference between the i5 and i7's are worth it for the work I do...Can't wait!
