Hey all,

Just thought I'd upload a demo of 'Sol' - a space shooter :)

It's only a minute long. I.e. the level you play is timed to only last one minute.

It's very rough round the edges. There's a lot of placeholder e.g. your laser fire, the instructions, the tie fighters, no level progression, no story.

It's essentially a 'proof of concept' which I'm quite happy with.

Improvements to be made include better/longer levels, better enemies, better lasers, better player feedback (when you get hit).

I've no idea how I'm going to do that though as the demo weighs in at 6MB :O

Anyway, hope you enjoy. Post your high scores here! :)

Hey there Nulo, thanks for that.

I've played most of the games on this site, and I did notice that particular one for the screen shake!

As to ktfright - what background do you mean?

Do you mean the stars that rotate? That was easy! ;)

I made an actor and told it that for 30 seconds it should randomly rotate every 2 and 8 seconds.

I made sure the image for the actor, once placed in the scene, was much bigger than the screen size. This way you don't see 'corners' when the image rotates.

I then put in a 'whoosh' sound every time it rotated so that it sounded like thrusters going off ;)

After 30 seconds it stops rotating, as the planet shows up and it didn't make sense to have the starfield rotate but the planet not.

    Hope that answers your question!
