Lighting effect in Photoshop 5.5...er, can't find it...

Hi, I'm a happy bunny today: I upgraded to Lion as well as upgrading and installing Adobe CS2 5.5 Design Standard. (I've been using CS2 for about 7 or 8 years now...and if it's not that long, it feels like it... I thought it was about time I "bit the bullet").

Bit odd that lighting effect has gone from the render section of the filters in Photoshop... is this now only available on the premium version, I wonder? Bit naughty of them if it is. Or perhaps they moved it... or I need new glasses...

Anyone any info please?

Even odder: as far as I can make out, I can only use lighting effects in 32 bit mode; that'll be a bit of pain to keep toggling that... although I've sort of gathered that After Effects can be used as a plugin for Photoshop, or is that wrong?

Useful info, @zombieaddict, thanks; it's just confirmed that lighting effects only runs (and so only appears, I guess) in 32 bit mode. (That's a bit odd to me as this was one of Photoshop's built-in filters; strange they've abandoned it). I'll look out for an cheapy third party alternative that runs in 64bit I guess...

Yup 32 bit mode only but you can force change that if you really want...

You don't need those cheesy filters for that, just use a gradient over top using a lighter or brighter colour of the colour underneath..the play with the blend settings like Screen or Overlay...

Good thinking TTG; although I didn't think the Lighting effect too shabby at all personally! But for certain you couldn't apply the effect on it's own layer; your way you can, thanks.

Also, I've just re-discovered Mystical Lighting and Ambiance plugin by AutoFX; I'll save up my pennies to get that eventually (it'll be useful for my adventure game Ancient Ones Discovery... when that sees the light of day again, if you excuse the pun... )

By the way, I wonder if AutoFX know they spelt Ambience wrong?! :-)
