Potential

NewtoappsNewtoapps Posts: 0Member
Hi,
I'm an experienced internet marketer, all my business activities are websites - I'm thinking about starting to develop mobile apps and promote them, I have a few cool ideas, but before I invest my time, I would like to hear a little about the potential a good game has profit-wise. Both free (with ads) and paid ones.

Obviously games like Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja make millions. But what are people here making from your successful games??

Thanks in advance

The rewards will obviously range from the pitiful to the bountiful. FireMaple was making around ~$30,000 a day a few weeks back, others will sell only a handful of games.

Also the forum will have a strong demographic bent, people staring out, people only having come to game design in the last couple of years or so, so any feedback will necessarily reflect that bias.

I'm also not sure how useful it is to gauge your own potential success by other people's success (or failure) the two aren't related - all you really need to know is that if you design a bunch of great games you are more likely to end up making a decent income.

Well said @Tynan these types of threads always irk me a bit because I think people are basically looking for others to confirm the app store is a get rub quick scheme. People who are looking for the fast buck are almost sure to fall flat on thier face with the app store. I know I sure did when I was starting out with all this.

It's not my fault I never learned to take responsibility for anything. ;)

I have no friends. I'm a loser that makes video games all day. Will you be my friend?

LOL... yep you gota stick with what you got and work towards that 'quick' buck... 50% is your app, that requires hard work and dedication which can be hard when you know your competing with the big guns, the other 50% is marketing and that i don't think anyone on gamesalad has really cracked properly!

@Newtoapps there's tons of potential to make a lot of money. But it isn't easy or guaranteed. A lot of developers make a few bucks a day. To be successful you have to have a great app and a good amount of luck.
