I am having a major issue figuring out a name for my App "business lable".

Basically I've spent a week burried in a dictionary, a thesaurus, and a translator with no luck.

I would like to incorporate fire(any variation) and/or ship (also any variation of the word). I have a cool logo idea that would work great with these; however, anything at all would work.

Any ideas? This has been frustrating so any help is greatly appreciated!

    what is the gameplay like?
  • iPhoneDevForMeiPhoneDevForMe Member Posts: 362
Well this is for a brand name, kinda like tshirtbooth has Big Banana Apps. The games I make are either puzzle games or action/arcade games. I have an idea for a logo involving a burning ship that looks really cool so IDE like to have that incorporated in the name of the brand/business

    Flaming ship, mate!
    Fire Sailor
    Fire Sail Games
    Phoenix Sails
    Fire Ship
Ships that burn in the night
    Starfire
    Blazing paddles

No need to reply - "Blazing Paddles" that's a good one.

    Way to go QS.

    I laughed when I saw that - you've got a winner!

You guys have some great ideas! I like a lot of them but I havnt heard one that pops out to me! Maybe I'm just too picky :\

It doesn't HAVE to use those 2 words, I just prefer them! I'm up for anything

Blazing Paddles is quite amazing haha, but not what I'm looking for!

Thanks everyone and keep the ideas flowing, this can be a great reference for anyone else also looking for a name.

How bout fire maple game... Oh wait..

I always like the unusual ones like "Tired Monkey games" or "Fuzzy dice studios" but for you maybe "RedSky Games" (from the saying "red skies in the morning sailors warning, red sky at night sailers delight").

    other ship type names:
    vessel
    galleon
    Armada
    Clipper
    junks

Man, Red Sky Games really made me feel warm inside, except for this:

Maybe Red Sky Studios/Entertainment/Software/(insert title here)??

Damm! - How about RedVessel games? (emphasis on the V in the logo which is like the bow of a ship)

Couple things to keep in mind:

    - use of alliteration/assonance/consonance - similar repeated sounds based on first letter(s)/vowel sounds/consonant sounds respectively (i.e. "crimson clipper", "ruddy rudder", "ruby rowboat/riverboat", etc.)

    - possible use of the word "maroon" since it means "red" but also "stranded" (usually from a shipwreck)

    - what will follow up the name? (i.e. "Games", "Entertainment", etc.)

"Hot Yacht", from above, is pretty catchy and it uses assonance ("ah") and consonance ("t"). "Hot Yacht Entertainment" sounds better than "Hot Yacht Games".

loads of cool ones there, some I guess are more like a name for a game than a games production company...

not very boaty but I liked Scitunes incinerapps...

    and liked Hot Yacht ...Studios

    ok, random ones...

    flamin armada productions
    burning apps ahoy
    burnt armada apps
    burning wreck apps
    roaring wreck productions
shiver me timbers (dunno why just wanted to type it)
    fiery floating apps
hot ship apps ... (I reckon 'Hot !@#$% Apps' is better though)
    inferno flag apps
boat on fire and really hot ouchy productions... :-)

    and my favorite:

    burnt shipmate studios

for your own interest my own one is stormystudio.com (had that name on things for years, since I used to have a full size storm trooper cut out in my bedroom at Uni, he now sadly lives in the loft as my wife says we need to look like adults :-( ... once I move I'm building a man cave

i'm a fan of the intentional (sarcatsic?) negative connotation of "burning wreck...". love it!
  • ChaserChaser Member Posts: 1,453
OK! If you can't choose from names like flagship inferno then you're not picky. You're just indecisive like my wife.
