My New Project-Rich Man's Challenge

Hi everyone! Its been a while since I posted on here(I've been away from gamesalad for a while due to being too busy over the christmas period) but now I'd like to share my latest which is currently waiting for review with you!

Its called Rich Man's Challenge and its a very simple concept:

-You have a money counter which starts at $0 but the overall goal is $1 Million
-All you have to do is press a button on-screen and the counter goes up by $1000
-However, every time you press the button there is a chance that the amount will drop back to $0
-There are checkpoints that will save even if you decide to stop and come back later, these are $100,000, $300,000, $600,000

Now just doing this might not sound to entertaining but I thought I'd add something to spice things up, so I'm offering a little reward to anyone who manages to get to $1 Million. However the prize will remain a mystery for now!

There will be 2 versions:

Rich Man's Challenge=0.99

Rich Man's Challenge Free=Free with ads

When they both get approved I will update this post with links but for here is a screenshot. Please tell me what you think

Unfortunately this will likely fall foul of gambling laws (certainly in the UK, and most likely in other jurisdictions too), you are (at least in the paid version) offering the chance of a prize in exchange for payment, but without an 'element of skill' (the 'element of skill' would make it an 'amusement'), the only exception to this rule would be lotteries, which are covered by separate (their own) legislation.

@Socks I really didn't think that would be an issue but now you mention it does make sense. Do you think if I got rid of the paid version and put a remove ads option into the free one it would remedy the situation? Thanks for replying btw.

I'm not sure, to me it sounds like the money (the 'consideration') would no longer be for the chance to win a prize but for the removal of the ads (which themselves don't effect the contest), so in that respect people would no longer be gambling, but I'm no lawyer so it's probably best to check this stuff out with someone who really knows this stuff well . . .

    This is a good starting place (section 20) . . . .

    https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/#contests

. . . currently, without your modification (getting rid of the paid version . . . etc) I suspect you are in breach of section 20.3 ("It must be permissible by law for the developer to run a lottery App, and a lottery App must have all of the following characteristics: consideration, chance, and a prize"), whilst you have consideration (in the paid version), and you have the element of chance and a prize, you don't have the licensing to run a lottery (which also puts you in breach of 22.1), but like I say you probably need to check it out with some legal brains, maybe a lawyer's forum or something like that.

@Socks Thanks for the info man, you saved me from a sticky situation and I appreciate it. I think I'll just remove the prize factor altogether and keep it as just tapping game for the tappers out there!

I suppose it could be a prize with no monetary value, if you reach the $1m the app's interface permenetly changes to solid gold or something like that ?

@Socks Yeah that's a good idea, I was also thinking of adding game center achievements and maybe leaderboards, just something to keep people tapping!
