I think pro and express won't die. 3D? Impossible, GS have some problem with 2D.
"We are preparing a new plate" suggests they are changing it.
This is EXCITING!
I wouldn't get too excited until you see what is coming down the pipe. We've seen a lot of speculation on the boards as to what that could mean.
On the hopeful side, maybe we will see a leaner price that continues to target indie developers (it would match their tag line).
But on the other side, they could be ramping it up to try and get bigger name devs in on the ride too that are willing to fork over more cash than the typical indie shop. There is not a pro shop out there that wouldn't like to cut dev times to release products more frequently.
Anyways, it's all speculation at this point and hopefully we won't have to wait long to see what it will be.

I don't think that "big" name will use GS. They have hundred of coder why use GS? GS must point to the Indie.
I'm very sad to say I'm on the very edge of leaving GameSalad all together due to it's limitations
I've learnt XCode and Objective C well enough to make utility apps and more complex good quality games so this last update decides weather I use GS again or just stick with XCode from now on

I really like the name GAMESALAD!
The multi-image blend might be indicative of more blending modes coming soon?? That would be nice.

I'm also planning on using LiveCode from RunRev for development also. The language is similar to my favorite language, BASIC.
Seems simple enough to code a code generator for it. [Long Term]
If anyone knows; how do I go about viewing my GS membership? I paid via Amazon.
Also, the forum still says "game creation for the rest of us." LOL.

Is the update near?
And again, I wouldn't hold your breath, 10/10/10 was pure speculation by the community
