WOW, if this trend continues, then you will be in the top ten by the end of the week! Such a good example of the fact that a game can do well, with little, to no marketing.
yikes! sorry about the crash! that's the first I've heard of that happening... When did it crash? Any details you could give would help. What device/iOS are you running? How much RAM does you device have? Were you running a lot of apps at the time in the background?
It's still 0.89. I have a Pro license so I used my own loading screen. I only used 12 Actors in the game and 15 Scenes to get the loading times as quick as possible.
Great game tho, been thinking of doing an adventure game for a while myself. Something like the kings, police or space quest series from Sierra only not as complex obviously.
Rob2 said: Straight up the charts...no marketing/publisher required...why? cos it looks great.
Well, not entirely true...It does require quite a bit of legwork! I have been doing this for six years now, and have built up quite a large contact list. I have emailed pretty much every review site, people at Apple, as well as creating several threads over at TouchArcade in the forums for the past few months.
I still haven't spent any money yet on marketing as I would like to exhaust all the free options at my disposal first!
The Editor-in-chief over at Slide To Play contacted me last night to congratulate me as well as to ask for promo code for review. Fingers crossed that will happen!
Later tonight I will create a newsletter and send it out to 7500 of my customers.
It's definitely a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. I have answered 250 emails that I have gotten since I launched the game. It is nice to talk with the people who play your games!
Hopefully some of these efforts will continue to push the game higher up the charts!
You're going to do very well releasing this game this time of year. The icon and branding all look appropriate for Halloween and you will pick sales from that, for sure. Won't be surprised to see it jump up near the top 25. From there it's pure wild card.
The graphics and icon look great and that's what initially sells a game. If the reviews stay high you will have the biggest hit on GameSalad yet.

The bootstrap pr tactics definitely work. You don't need advertising dollars on iphone. You need a quality game and you need to work your butt off in the trenches, promoting the game yourself. Most people just do do enough work in that area, or have a high quality enough product. You need that game, first and foremost, then you will be surprised how well you capitalize on the pr efforts. You will also be surprised how many press guys will be interested in keeping in touch with you now, or who will perk up on your next game and give you premium previews.
Get ready for a ride. You'll bank 100k on this game with little issue. I look forward to seeing results this time next month, after Halloween and the initial surge.

And ask them for a special allowance for and expedited review. It could be for bug fixes, or because your app need to approved for Halloween, or for whatever.
Hey FMG can you confirm what somebody said about your game that is making the same amount of money as a 99cents game in higher position I think he was comparing it with Monster Dash currently in #34.

1,423 sales - $2,466.44
Currently #57 in All Games!
And Grisly Manor just broke into the US Top 100 Apps at #93!

It did crash for me upon first loading. Alas the new 9.0 seems a lot faster especially w/out the splash heh.

You can email Apple at: appreviews@apple.com

I wouldn't abuse it though.
