Yes from what I understand as per GSLover's post, you can publish under your account and GameSalad will take 30% and Apple will take 30%. The most you will make will be 40% off each sale. So if it's a $1 sale, you get 40 cents.
ilugamer said: GsLover while I appreciate your help it looks to me that GameSalad does not make this very important distinction clear enough at the outset of sign up.
With other APIs I would get 70% and there would be no mention of what dev enviroment I used. In some instances that is important.
Again, if GS staff or powers-that-be can give this thread a final look over and set the record straight with some form of full upfront transparency on a very important issue.
While this thread may be 5 months old, it is 24 hours new for *me*. I just saw it and thank goodness for that.
Anyone else have any more info. I'd like to see something official from GS themselves. From my viewpoint, they seem very quiet about this. Just quickly looking through this thread are there any GS staff involved to set the record straignt?
Just askin'
*note - just to be clear, I am very impressed with GS so far but still need to know what it is I am getting into.
All it is really is you may either publish under your own brand or under the gamesalad accelerator. If you publish under the gamesalad accelerator, gendai will do all the marketing for you and will take a 30% cut out of your sales. If you choose to publish on your own, all the profits stay to you except for the 30% that is taken from apple.
I spoke to the guys at gamesalad about the accelerator and they said that now they've become very selective of the games that enter into the program, since they will be investing some money and time in your game. So just know that theres not a 100% guarantee you'll make it in there just because you want your game published by them. Many people don't talk about it around here because they find this all nonsense and want to publish apps to build the reputation of their own brand.
@artonskyblue, thanks for that post. It's becoming clearer now.
re:"Many people don't talk about it around here because they find this all nonsense and want to publish apps to build the reputation of their own brand."
Well 3 pages for an otherwise simple question that could be easily answered by an official reply from GS is nonsense. Anyway, no biggie, they are probably busy building some kind of new GS 2 DeathStar system
I'LL NEVER LEAVE GS!!!!!!!! I spend too much time trying to learn objective-c, but I had only The Games Factory when I was a child... So now there's powerful version of TGF : Gamesalad!!!! And my masterpiece is coming Be serious, how many of us can use c++ or obj-c?
