I agree with you guys.... it looks good. "Powered by GameSalad" sounds good.....
and then you get to the part where it says "feed your inner game designer" and I cringe!!!!! seriously.... why put that on there???? it sounds great on GameSalad's website, and it's a perfectly good slogan for them.... but it has no place on the load screen of any game that a serious developer has spent months working on, no matter the development tools they used.
you don't go to the movies, and see something like that in the opening credits where THx or Dolby Digital or whoever else's technologies helped to create the movie puts their logo in the credits. Even if the movie is made by an indie developer, you don't see them putting some lame tag line in the credits about how basically "it's so easy a caveman can do it".... please, give me a break.
I love and respect the core people behind the GS product who have created it, and are currently working very hard to make it even better. I have no problem at all with the GS logo going in the opening credits of my game, if made with the GS development tools, but that tag line just does not belong there along with the logo and "powered by GS" which are classy and sound good.
Keep the good classy professional looking part, and please ditch the part where it makes the game that is about to load on someone's device sound amateur.
another thing I might point out, is that in making a game, GameSalad is not the only tool that has been used in creating it. Personally, I have used Gimp, Pixen, Audacity, GarageBand, Google, Cocoa, Corona, the iPhone SDK, SecondLife, FreeSound.org, cfxr, Safari, the iPhone SDK, and a couple other tools I can't think of at the moment, in the production of the game I am making with GameSalad, but other than mentioning in the final credits of the game maybe, I cannot imagine giving those tools any credit for the creation of my game.
Moreover, I would never consider putting in a tagline such as "Created using Gimp.... Feed your inner Graphic Designer"
Sorry for getting a bit worked up on this point, but like I said, the GS logo and "powered by GS" sounds good. Stay classy San Diego! (or Austin, TX... whichever)
btw, I spent a week once in Austin, and your city rocks! so does Game Salad, as long as you don't lessen the hard work put in by the people using it by making it sound like it's a tool for kids at computer camp when one of their games loads on their customer's device.
in a nutshell, here is what that tagline says to the person about to play the game they have just spent money to purchase..... "hey you, get ready to play this game you bought, but just remember, it was so easy to make this game with GameSalad that even you could probably make a better game than this one in 5 minutes or less"

I agree with everyone that said remove the tag line. AirAttack HD was developed with Unity and I never noticed the Powered by Unity splash screen until I learn what Unity is then it poped out at me, but like most of the millions of iOS users they won't think twice when they see powered by Gamesalad. Made with Gamesalad was horrible and made the app look cheap from the start. Powered by sounds much better.....LOSE the tag line and it's perfect.
1) I can live with a forced GS load screen...but the rumored ads on top of that is a no go for us. 2) The "powered by" verbiage is a welcomed change. 3) Would prefer a black background as to white...as white is a bit blinding on a new launch. 4) The slogan is awful. It screams amateur hour. Its a deal breaker for us as well.
If this slogan and the splash ads are forced on us...then GS will be used solely for crapware by us...if we even bother to renew our license or publish crapware. We've dug into Corona pretty deep right now during the GS lull/fiasco...and the corona engine is phenomenal...and surprisingly simple to use/implement.
So if these rumors are indeed true...this is still a big error by GS. They continue to push their game dev kit as "amateur ware" and not "game development ware".
They need to decide which side of the fence they are on. Are they going to be software for amateurs/hobbyists or software for developers. If its the first...then fine...we will move on. If its the latter (or both)...then quit trying to force unfriendly/anti-indie elements onto our INDEPENDENT apps.
Put up the splash screen...say its powered by game salad and then get out of our way and let us build our apps. Quit trying to force a "wrapper" on us. Because if you do...it will continue to drive the devs away. If GS thinks they can make money on providing mid-grade software for indie game/app development that indie game devs do not want...then more power to them.
The drag and drop GDK monopoly they currently have just isn't that powerful of a lure to override the forced app packaging IMHO. So this just reinforces to me...that GS will only grow as a crapware generator (on the whole) with a few gems hidden in the landfill. The splash screen appears as only a symptom of a bigger mindset on their side of things...that they will brand our apps one way or another.
Torque died this month because it was an inferior engine to its competition and overpriced for what it was. Is GS next? If they continue to look for ways to impose themselves on our personal app store presence...they will not harvest the large number of serious devs needed to make the GE respected and mainstream. I know that this is what the brass want...but its not going to fly.
Indies just aren't going to let GS piggy back on their own work...unless they have no other option. Most serious devs have other options...so GS becomes a choice. And if they are going to force horrid recruitment slogans and unwanted ads for crapware or cialis or whatever in my app...then GS won't get my business (or many others I suspect).
BTW: Chillingo (the leading app publisher) was bought by EA because of the Crystal social network they built...not because they were a good publisher. They didn't get any successful titles from them (angry birds, cut the rope) as those are owned by the devs...not chillingo. So it appears to me...that publishing and branding apps just isn't the angle GS should be chasing...they should be chasing features that are revolutionary and unique and then make them easy to use and make the GE more valuable. The idea of building their exposure on forced branding seems like it will backfire miserably...and only associate them with crapware instead of a GE that can do things the other engines can't do. And as time goes on...this will only lead to their demise (just like Torque...which was buggy, slow and way off pace/behind with the other GDKs that are emerging).
I agree. Using the tag line on the splash screen doesn't help us, it will harm us.
I'm done if the advertising is forced. I don't want some crap-o-ware and/or PG-13 products being promoted in my software. (Imagine being sued by a parent because some PG-13 / R rated ad was included in a game rated for all. If that does happen, it will be a sue-o-rama for GS.)
Maybe this logo with the horrible tag line was used only for the demo. One of the biggest challenges as a indie dev is to look professional. Definitively this tag line is a deal breaker for us.

it soooooooooo doesn't need a tagline.
looks cheap.
the rest of it is fine. )
/crawls back into his hole.
nowhere
Looks nice, classy and subtle on the white background.... then the tagline just goes and makes it into too much of an advert, and loses the subtlety.

WTF!
" Sparkyidr "
cheap is one thing...WHITE means nothing in the RGB world!! T_T

A choice of white or black background would be nice (so it can better suit the game it's sitting in front of).
Ditch the slogan. Great for the website, not so great for games.
