Tagline a big no-no. I'd go not only for black and white background colors, but different versions of screens aswell. Perhaps one with a glossy reflection of the logo, perhaps one with a drop shadow, one with a concrete backdrop and so on. It would be good to customize it ourselves. That way it'll be easier to make it fit with the rest of the game we're making.
Undersky, while that might be good for some users no matter how many versions they will make it still won't fit with all the different type of games. Simplicity is the best and never out of fashion. Plus, they need to think at the consistency from a marketing pov. Fox, EA, ..., can afford to have ther logo customized for different games because they are well known and established brands.
I do agree that they should have an option for white or black (I need both, white for Silly Sheep and black for Nightmare Escape)
