A single splash may not mean anything. We could live with it until now too. But a splash, a jingle and an advertisement will pretty piss off every customer of yours.
If they have to wait for the game loading, they will quit before you can say "crap"
I think its a great deal, getting pro for $99 I have no problem with the splash screen. Most games have a splash screen of the engine used to make it i.e Unreal 3.

Get yourself together and try to think even with that small brain you have.
Hi Hunnenkoenig; I understand you are upset/annoyed/pissed off/an exploding rocket/the hulk ;-) but that comment was really out of order. Do you expect the GameSalad team to pay any attention to you when you write insults like that?
For what it's worth, I'll vote in your poll when you've apologised to the GameSalad team.
I totally understand that GS wants to advertise about themselves. To do it in the loading screen is the perfect opportunity. But at the same time there are many GS pro users who would like to do the same. Branding is quite important so to speak.
As a potential pro user I would like to help GS to spread their brand. I can do it by telling about GS on my website. But to let them have the whole loading screen is too much for me and my customers.
The alternative would be is to share the splash screen! Let pro users to customize it but add a GS logo (made with GS) somewhere in one of the corners. I think that would make a lot of developers happy. I would suddenly chose a pro level with this solution. I decide the big picture and let GS have some recognition.
All the devs who knew in advance of the changes before us made it clear there would be big fallout from the community and chose to ignore them. When the big fallout happened they took a step back and made changes they thought would please everyone.
Now, because some of us use the tool in a professional capacity, which means clients require their logo at startup, gamesalad.com probably did not really factor this in. As far as they are concerened, people like firemaple or tshirt will made top rated games and pull in more devs unless they have a special deal to get splash screen removed.
If we are to use gs as a pro tool and keep clients then there needs to be away to remove the slash screen.

No thanks. I mean, what I say. For me they have no brain, because if they would have, they wouldn't always work against themselves and their customers.
I was still feminine with that formulating. They know me. They don't care and respond anyway, so I can say what I want. Even: BOMB! Bomb bomb bomb, bombombobomb...
Oh, and btw I already showed them my support by paying the additional 99 dollars. Did you!?
WhyAreYouHere said: Im sorry but do you guys forget about what happened a few weeks back? Gamesalad Direct????
You guys willnever be happy.
First pro was to much money direct is crazy and forget it now no splash screen.
Its like you guys will NEVER be happy.
I for one am happy that pro is only 99 bucks for me to extend and only 500 to renew. As i am one that paid 2k for pro.
Thanks you GS
TShirtBooth, you are working with GS and have a bias opinion. Let people speak their mind. Not everyone had made inside deals with gamesalad like you. Go ahead and deny it, but your defence of GS when they are ripping us off on the splash screen is because you are now in bed with them. You have been a very helpful member for such a long time now. It's sad to see you acting this way.
Oh and one more thing. If you are going to come the forum under your kids name (WhyAreYouHere) then let people know! Not after I call you out for working with GameSalad.
maybe it would just help if you guys just posted some solid information regarding the whole splashscreen followed by advert that people keep mentioning, as right now, it all seems to be a bit all over the place.
Can you confirm for certain that there actually will be forced adverts.. if so, is it just in the free version? Will they be forced on people who still have the old Express license? Are forced adverts in the new pro subscriptions? Do customers have any say in what adverts are put in their games?
Like I said...its mostly gossip and conjecture at the moment, which isnt really gonna do anyone any favors. GameSalad really should be posting proper details on this to clear it up.
I still dont get why it couldnt have been posted days ago, and debated while you were still fixing the new build.
This is a list of all the licensors of the CRI middleware in 2008. All these games shipped with a flat-white intro screen that read "CRIWARE" with no other branding.
Look at the names: Street Fighter 4. Shin Megami Tensei. Trauma Center. Supreme Commander. the Iron Man games. King of Fighters. The World Ends With You.
Are you really trying to assert that you're better than Capcom, Square Enix, et al? A splash screen is *nothing*.
TechnoDave, I do not work for GS, i am not in bed with them and i do not have to say im tshirtbooth. i did so as it was needed.
you have your opinion and its a good one. But so do I. I was just telling you over and over to email them and give them a chance to help you. But you did not want to listed so i told you who i was in hopes that would help you understand that i knew what i was talking about,\.
I agree with you, the splash screen sucks. I will also now have the splash screen. I with you on this. The point wi was making with you was talk to them, Give them the chance to help you b4 bashing them. Because after you bash them they may not want to help. Thats all i was getting at.
Also to many other people, you always had the splash screen so being forced to have it now is no big deal. Its only a hand full of US that are effected. So i would not worry to much.

Haha, classic! Well, glad you spoke with your feminine side then! I do agree that lack of communication from the GS team has and is damaging their reputation more than they can imagine, and that's without these latest issues.
Oh, and btw I already showed them my support by paying the additional 99 dollars. Did you!?
I won't bore you with my financial situation, but I haven't paid Gendai - now GameSalad Inc. a penny. I always fully intended to when I was at least half way through actually finishing a game; after starting at least five, I never got to that stage....go on, hate me if you want... ;-) I would have gladly paid the $99 for the Express as it was then if I could have afforded it.
Tshirt: Did you think about, why they made it so, that you and Firemaple also have to have the splash?
I don't want to accuse anybody, it just popped into my mind after I have read your comment, but I believe, they just thought: "hey, there are these guys, who sell fifty thousand units of their games. What if we could show our logo to fifty thousand users to show the world, what our engine can do, when they update the game again"
Just think about it.
We all others are nothing to them.
But they know, there are and will be 1-2 bigger fishes, which they can use. So think about twice, who you call friends :-)

Capcom, Square, etc are all well know company names with well recognized brands. Most of the clients we work with are start-ups or small businesses trying to make a name for themselves. That's the reason they want to be seen everywhere, even on a tiny splash screen. I don't think that I am better than Capcom but I need to believe that my clients are.
There is only one screen. A splash screen. There is no advertisement that follows the splash screen. Our splash video plays at the beginning for 4 seconds (a standard length for any engine "powered by" screen). During this time, the engine is loading your first screen in the background. Should the first scene be very memory heavy, the engine will capture a screenshot of your initial scene and switch to that immediately following the video if your scene is not yet fully loaded.
We developed this new system in order to ensure that should your game require any more time to load, which based on our testing has very rarely been the case in this update, it would be the developer's content that was shown. We understand people did not want it to linger on the GameSalad splash screen, and so we've built in measures so it does not.
There are no forced adverts. People seem to be referring to the engine splash as a forced advert. It is, in fact, just an engine splash screen. I hope that clears things up.

Many, many PC games ship with animated, singing NVidia/Intel movies. They still seem to do pretty well.

So there.
