It is a very useful tool, and we can all tell how much hard work was put into it. I would pay maybe 20- 40$. But other than that, I just can't see myself using this as much as it would cost if it were to be higher. But again, I am still a beginner to GS. I don't have big big projects like some of you all do. SO my opinion would be to try to sell it to the GS team. thanks DL
JGary321 said: It would be silly & ridiculous to even THINK about offering this for $20. All you who put $20 should be ashamed of yourselves
JGary321, Offers of $20 aren't meant as an insult or lack of recognition for the hard work utopiangames has put into this amazing product, and it's wrong to criticize those of us who've said we'd pay $20. Consider that $20 is one of the dollar amounts listed in the polls to put the price in context. If the starting range was $100 and people were only offering $20, then an insult it may be.
Everything comes down to cost of scale. A calculator watch 30 years ago cost several hundred dollars. Today they are less than $10. If an iPhone had been developed and you were one of only a handful of people to potentially buy it, the price would be astronomical because of R&D and manufacturing costs. Because tens of millions of people were forecast to buy it, the price began at +- $500 and has come down from there. If utopiangames project were built for a few people, the cost would and should rightly be quite high. If it's for a mass audience, the price can justifiably be lower and the potential to earn greater returns is higher because the lower price appeals to a broader audience. Probably all things you already knew but maybe didn't think of before criticizing us (even with good intentions).
I know it's no insult, I just know the value. I consider this more valuable than any template I bought from darren, so I think he would be a fool (and I know he is not) to consider less than $50. I think $50 is the sweet spot. I think even most who say they wouldn't pay for it at that price, will eventually come around.
But we all know this should flat out be a FEATURE of GS anyways. Hopefully it will be.
i actually think the credits thing is kind of a good idea. Darren and wayne dont sell the program to anyone and then charge a small amount to merge projects for people. I think that could be very succesful. When it comes to gs buying it, as awesome as this is,i thing this is the last thing they should consider adding with all the other stuff they could focus on.

Unfortunately I think this is the only thing that would prevent me from using/buying it. I want it so that I can make a bunch of my own templates for various things & merge as needed. I think this would cost WAY too much in the long run. Think about having a basic menu template that you could put into every new game you make, with just basic tweaks needed. That would save a lot on development time. Need a joystick? Merge. Wanna incorporate recycling bullets? Merge.
I don't think the program would really be used for it's FULL potential if people had to pay .50 or $1.00 every time they merged something. Would I use it? Sure, but not as much as I would like. From what I can tell of Darren, he would love to make money off this, but also would love for this tool to be used as much as possible in the way it was meant to.
Just my thoughts. Can't wait for the full release. I'm excited about making my own small templates for all kind of stuff. Day one purchase here
We made this for personal use over a few weeks so a lot of our time has been sunk into it and today we're testing a new updated build.
I realized it would be a great tool for the masses so we spoke about selling it.
I said it would be great if GS made us an offer so you guys could have it for free or with pro but it would be up to GS to decide if they bought it.
I sent the guys a mail to see if there interested, they have all seen and all love it but as yet we've had no response not even a simple....how much do you want for it?
From the mails we've had you guys want this yesterday so we don't want it to hang around hence the poll.
We strongly believe this merger will save you many many hours of your time during your iPhone development.
Another point to make is any money made from this is being sunk back in to new and exciting GS tools and as some of you already know we're working on an iPhone to iPad converter (build your game on iPhone and convert to iPad at the press of a button).
Myself and Wayne have agreed on a price and will mail you shortly if we don't hear back from GS very soon.
Awesome to hear Darren (and Wayne), look forward to your mail
Yes it would be better if GS got hold of it and distributed as part of GS for free or for pro only but lets face it, if they take it, we wont see it implemented in some way for 6 months!

So true, just hope its not going to cost too much.
thanks Darren ... I have already started new features in a blank project as JGary321 proposed. Your creation could completely change the way many of us design our projects.

Nice work on the Project Merger. However, an application I would most defiantly purchase would be a iPhone to iPad project converter that would resize everything (actors, backgrounds, spawn actor locations, etc.) from the iPhone size to the iPad size. All that would have to be done is multiply all iPhone X values by 2.13333333 and all iPhone Y values by 2.4. This would keep the positions the same as the iPhone version of an app, just scaled up to fit the iPad screen. To enlarge the sizes of everything, just multiply the iPhone width by 2.13333333 and the iPhone height by 2.4 to get everything enlarged to fit the iPad screen size, but everything would still be the same ratio as the iPhone version, just enlarged to fit the iPad. I am currently having to spend weeks doing this within GS, but if an app existed that would do it for me, I would be more than happy to spend around $50.00 for the program. Darren, have you, or anyone else, thought about doing something like this?

Really though, I can't see why I'd need to be merging two game salad projects anyway? Though perhaps it will be revealed later.
Maybe in the case of importing libraries bought from other users, or something?

I have a high score list in one of my apps, but it's horribly complicated and big and I don't want to do it again.
Now if I had it in a template, I could import it into all of my apps.
So I am definatelly interested in this.
iPhone to iPad would be great and a build for the Mac appstore would also be amazing! You guys rock!
Thanks Darren/Wayne
