    hi...

At one time (0.8.9) we could edit or delete games in our portfolios...but this feature was removed in 0.90? We need that back....

Once in a while, I browse some hard core 3D sites that show models extracted from various games .. x box etc ...

Before we blame GS, maybe it would be of an advantage to know if there is a way for someone to download (buy) a game but then decompile it? Perhaps this is not as easy as it is with Flash games but still, since this is such a huge market, you never know what tools exist out there.
Unfortunately, everything we do that has potential, will be looked at by somebody.
Wasn't it Einstein who stated that imagination is of higher value than education?
People who brake new ground are rare and the chinese are not known for inventing that much, are they?

A few weeks ago, a marketing expert told me that once i introduce a certain app (which i have not started work on), i would have to move quick because of the fact that someone would copy it a.s.a.p.

I'm sorry Josh that your first game making experience had to be like this but thank God we are dealing with Apple who after all is by no means a shady operation. I am sure that they will immediately side with you.

Basically, Apple has us, the developers by the balls because to sell, they have to have our bank account data so please journal this!
IF you don't make money on the app because he stole it, MAYBE YOU WILL make money on the story?

I think you are a smart man so weigh your options and see if there is a product in there for you after all?

    Everyone:

We are in contact with the person publishing these games. Obviously, blatant copying of someone else's game goes against everything this community is about. We have asked deactivated their GS account, and are currently trying to get the user to remove the games from the App Store.

At the same time, even though the email addresses may have been publicly available, I will be editing out the email addresses of the party in question. We do not need to flood this email address with emails from the community. This person understands the consequences and such actions do not do us any good as a community. I hope everyone understands.

As for how this happened at all, I am working with our web team right now to find any leaks and take whatever actions we must to help prevent things like this in the future.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach me via our Contact Us page in the footer of the website, or PM me. Thanks, everyone, and much apologies to everyone this has affected.

yes, unfortunately you can very easily take any game from the GS website. Whether it is set to be able to be downloadable or not.

I wonder how, no i dont want to steal any game lol

    I WILL TAKE LEGAL ACTION!

TSUNG-SHENG YU, YOU WILL SEE ME IN FEDERAL COURT!!!!

Ok I took it a bit overboard there, but seriously, I hate this kInd of stuff. How can people live their life knowing all they do is rip people off and scam people. This is gamesalads fault too. They really need to secure the projects more.

Ok I have to admit, it's my fault too. Any serious developer wouldnt upload their game to an unstable site such as GS. I just really wanted to give people a small look at what I was working on :(

very upsetting for every one here in the forum and making GS games. I feel since GS has all his contact information just banning him will not be enough.. if those were my games I would demand his contact information from GS and take legal actions.

This is unacceptable, I have always been worried about how the publishing goes through the GS server and if GS has a hard copy of my game if so you guys better protect the crap out of those copies on your servers.

If these apps were "Web Published" it's not a leak... it's a gusher. The basement is flooded. Any GameSalad project uploaded to the website is basically publishing all the Gamesalad assets inside the project for the world to steal.

This is probably something for the web team to investigate. Being able to create web games would be a huge boon for GameSalad. But right now, since such a small percentage of web browsers are supported and the project is too easy to rip off, I've been avoiding Web Publishing.

Here's an excerpt of Chapter #22 - Web Publishing
    ...from The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook.
Another issue is that the Web Publishing feature puts your game on the GameSalad.com website. The software doesn’t export a file for you. Instead, that file is put on the GameSalad.com website. You could go get that file by visiting the GameSalad.com website, finding the page your game and clicking the “Embed” link. In the html code, you can find the link to your game. This is an important concept to understand. By using the web publish feature, you’re sharing your game with the world. By default, others can put your game on their website. They can put banner ads around your game. They could be making money from your game — while you make nothing.

Obviously, it can go a step further than that.

This is also an issue for the upcoming Mac App Store. I'm not sure how those apps will be protected from copying.

If I could make a suggestion that ALL demos be shut down immediately until the compromise can be remedied.

Maybe you could try uploading a blank template to "update" the game.

...and it look like your crab icon is making rude gestures at me with his claws? HA HA.

my sure your using a whole number for the update version like 2 instead of 1.2, 2.0, ect. also make sure your hitting the enter key after every field your typing in. I just did a update so it should be working

    I am confused!
When I signed up with Apple, they pretty much demanded all my data and bank account info.

Surely they must know who that goof is and therefore could redistribute the revenues generated so far to the rightful owners of the games affected?

Someone earlier asked a question that has not been answered so I will regurgitate it once more because I'd really like to know.

    GS,
WHAT happens when we publish a game????
We upload the project to your server, obviously, but do you also publish it on the web???
What happens with the file we upload to you?

My stuff is very simple and not worth stealing but still, I was never comfortable to send all my artwork and text away with no control of where or if it gets published/stored afterwards?

Can someone who knows clarify? I'm curious!

Are these games that were uploaded to gamesalad.com only or if you build an adhoc iPhone version it also saves something on GS servers?

Web uploads dont require a version number, so that couldn't be the problem
