This is how people react when they see a GameSalad game?

Ha sadly sometimes that is true however notice that they PLAYED the game still. Everyone gives the game they bought a chance. It's up to you to make them keep coming back.

However I've showed all of my friends my gs games and they don't even notice the gamesalad splash screen. You have to remember these guys review apps a lot and have downloaded way more than the average person.

he lost my interest in his opinion when he started talking about his penis. But still the issues are there in GS regardless. Hopefully a build soon will improve performance for scene change and touch lag.

I also notice games which don't give and indication of touch when you click a button and have built into my game that the button size expand and contract on touch so there is a visual and sound effect to touch.

These guys have a real problem with GS. I'll not post it, but you should watch the youTube review they did on Hover Escape HD. Ow.

By the way, while they make some valid points, they are major jerks.

"Every game we have tried that was made with gamesalad had been terrible. Just terrible. Hover Escape HD is no exception. It is just awful..."

    says it all.

Can we face facts here? I don't wanna sound like an ass but many of the GS games people make are reallllly bad and basic. I'm NOT saying GS is bad or that people haven't made good games, but most look super lame and on top of that their 0.99 or more. GS's ease of use attracts a crowd of people who aren't like pros (duh), but the users just make uncompetitive games for todays world. Why would someone pay for some of the GS games when they can get industry quality games for the same price? And also look at some recent games which copy templates. Its like ppl don't try and just expect to get rich. Sorry if it's harsh but its true.

And also, we need to stop looking at this kinda stuff as GS USERS, and instead look at it as GAMERS. What would you say if you downloaded a game with a slingshot on a golf course?

Do they think that all GS games are made by one person? o.O

I don't believe for a second that this was a first run through. These guys were using a very mocking tone before they even tapped the icon. A guarantee these dbags have an agenda. This is not what ordinary non-dbag customers think when they see the splash. I also bet my life that they did not purchase that game. I'm sure they got a promocode somewhere. So if you have a good game and you made a good icon and good screenshots, people are not going to care when the load screen says. If they are worried then your game needs to show them that gamesalad can be used to create quality games (which it certainly can).

It's not about that. It's just that theres such a bad ratio of bad GS games to good GS games that as soon as people see the splash scene they expect a bad game. However, like Breezeonhold said, most people don't notice GS anyway so really we shouldn't look that deep into it.

So you're saying that other applications don't have bad games made on them...

Anyway, they lost me at their phallic remark.

After seeing this video, I'm a fan of "no splash screen for pro users" motto.

I will do anything I can do make this happen.

Because these are just 4 random people on youtube. Try guessing how many people are highly disturbed about that gamesalad logo, and, eventually, the game..

No matter how good the game is, when they see the logo, they just prejudge this because of the logo. And THIS IS BAD FOR ANYONE who makes decent games, not that s**ty ones..

No splash screen. That is it.

    I agree... No splash screen...

More interestingly, gamesalad is the only one using splash screen....

Unity has some splash screen too (I don't know exactly but pro users don't have one). But it stays on the screen for about half a second, and writes "Powered by Unity" with a high-tech looking beautiful logo that only increases your interest.. Something needs to be done about this issue because there are a bunch of people still using GS templates, with no changes, to send an app to apple, with no changes.

You can't make the assumption that EVERYONE reacts this way when they see Game Salad. These guys clearly have no lives and I really hope that they don't have a large fan base because I don't believe they deserve it. It seemed like this review was more about themselves then the game. So thumbs down to these guys.

I agree however that the ratio of games good games on Game Salad is unbalanced. But at the same time, that's true of the entire gaming industry, movie industry, etc...

So stop whining about the splash screen, I don't believe it has that kind of effect on everyone.

    Do you want splash screen??

If not, you are the one that should stay silent, respect to other users opinions as long as you are not against the idea.

cbt, his point was that you are trying to make it an issue, when there is no issue. Just like there is no spoon... which means I'm not eating ice cream, so I better go get to it!

Point in case - angry birds is the most successful game ever on the iphone. Nobody is bestowing the software they used with leafy laurels of glory...

... these schmucks just have an agenda and are probably paid by competitors to do a GS smear campaign.

Yes, maybe I overreacted but, just go make a search with "gamesalad" keyword at the itunes appstore. Download all free games, or if you can paid ones, and than compare the ratio between good games and bad games..

I don't currently have a "good" game at the AppStore but, I'm currently working on few for weeks, and, the idea people will decide if my game is good or bad with just the splash screen (and because of those other 5minute made games) just drives me crazy...

I challenge you to do the same with ALL programs used to make a game. There are WAY more bad than good for every product out there. That's just because most people suck at making games on their own... so sad, but true.

So based on that, there isn't an issue with GS, a splash screen, etc. Thanks for an entertaining ride... I'm getting off it now.

Wow, well I really wouldn't worry about them. Clearly they are just a bunch of kids, and not professionals at that. Pros don't behave like that. Anyone can put stuff up on YouTube and most this is drivel no one cares about. Ignore them and walk away, lol.
With that said, I'm not a fan of the splash screen either for two reasons. One because I want my company logo to be first and two because it tries to apeal to game designers but most people seeing it are just wanting to play. I get the pun about "feeding" and "salad" with "Feed your inner game designer" but it doesn't help me look very professional with that slogan. That's the single biggest issue I have with it.
Like others here, I would do about anything to be able to lose it.
Help us Gamesalad peeps, you're our only hope.....

    @forklift

Ok. Thanks for being at least plausible anyway . I'm not looking for an argument.. I never did :)

But, I think, gamesalad really has the worst fame in all of the developer tools. (it is ironic that GS is one of the best)

Just because of that, I wouldn't want a splash screen.. I think there is no logic in branding games.. Good or bad..

For example if angry birds was made with unity, and had a splash screen, people would be happy when they see a unity splash screen.. I think THAT is UNNECESSARY too.. There shouldn't be any splash screen at all.. Nothing for user to prejudge the game at the beginning..

It's Friday and it rains in Vancouver ... bla bla bla

I checked out their youtube channel ... and i think it's safe to say that we worry for nothing!

They get, on average 250 views per video and considering that they probably watch their own stuff over and over, it's safe to say that maybe 100 people stumble on their reviews.

So, let's be professional and not watch that video anymore because there is no reason to give them 1000 views. Last they might think that there is success in their strategy and review more GS stuff.

Let's take it for what it's worth ... nothing!

    forgot one thing.
If i was the maker of the game(s) they review, I'd DEMAND youtube take that video down ASAP because it makes fun of black people and the disabled. Both subjects which clearly cross the line and then some!
