I've noticed a lot of drama and strife on the forums lately. So, I started a contest as a way to bring the community closer together. The details are here...
http://photics.com/photics-team-presents-a-contest-for-gamesalad-developers
Basically, for every point donated to the Photics Folding@home Team may count as one entry in the contest. The prize is a Promo Code for The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook app.
Folding@home is a distributed computing project. By using your computer's downtime, you can help scientists better understand protein folding. This could lead to cures of related diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, ALS, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s disease, and many Cancers.
The contest started already and it runs until February 28, 2011 12:00PM Eastern. See the official contest page for details.

Once you finish your first work unit, and Standford University updates the page, you should show up on the team! Depending on how fast you get through a work unit, it should be about 10-24 hours.
Also useful information...
The PlayStation 3 and Windows PCs running the GPU client are great at folding!
My Mac has a CUDA GPU, but I can't seem to get it to fold properly... even with virtualization or boot camp.
Welcome to the team!

Then what..
I've already got a copy of your app/book but I thought I'd see if I can contribute any way...

Basically, once you complete a work unit, you should appear on the Team page. To enter the contest, post a comment on the contest page with the same name that appears on the Stanford University / Photics Team page.
• Remember, the team number is 60254.
• Also, the PlayStation 3 and the GPU client is much faster.
• You can get even more points by registering a passkey.

UPDATE: I checked out the PS3. Maybe I have a different version, or I missed a setting, but I didn't see a way to enter a passkey. My PS3 is on and folding right now.
It looks like tenrdrmer is serious about success!

Tenrdrmer jumped from nowhere to 17th place on the Photics Team! And so far, there's only one eligible contestant.
@photics how can I tell if my mac is doing anything? PS3 is simple i've got 3 work units already on that and that all I see on the list. I even ran insomnimax so my mac wouldn't go to sleep on me over night.
Will be joining tonight!

It states that you accomplished three work units, but only one CPU. That seems to suggests that all three of your PS3 work units got through. I don't disclose the identities of Photics.com or Photics Team members. However, there is a forum at Photics.com. Maybe you can introduce yourself to the community and see if Oracle responds.
did not see any passkey option on the PS3... does it matter?
Hey Photics, what about a runner up reward?
With the initial launch of the app, I ran out of promo codes. With the update, I only have nine active promo codes. One is for the contest. That leaves eight left for the media. (I still have more promo codes in reserve in iTunes connect.)
I've been contacting news sites, and even a TV network, to see if they're interested in receiving promo codes. It's surprising to me... GameSalad is free software (not counting professional) to make apps, which is one of the hottest things in the industry right now. I think there should be more press coverage.
As an example...
http://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-build-an-iphone-app-2011-2
GameSalad was skipped. That means one of two things...
1) People don't know about GameSalad
2) People don't care about GameSalad
Neither is good news for the software. Perhaps my promotion of the textbook will help to change that perception.
Right now tenrdrmer has something like 4,220 points and headshot has 2,213 points. That means if the deadline of the contest was right now, headshot could still win. It's not about being first. It's about the winning entry.
A random number between 1 and 6453 is selected. The order is higher in team ranking goes first. If the random number is 5000, then headshot would win. This is a fairly close contest. While the one with the most points is more likely to win, there could still be an upset.
I also didn't got the winning logic, more details please.
