Very basic video of game type and play

Getting some art in and more of the storyline now, will post more soon!

    Not sure about the graphics style, probalby a simple cartoonish style with some cool particles. I got some really neat particles im working on now, ill post a video when im done

    Were doing a game at the mo that could really use particles.

    Are they very memory hungry? ie destroy framerate?

    60 fps on iphone 4 and memorys around 17 mb, with the particles and the ramp drawing :)

    You cant tell cause it gets messed up at the beginning of the video but its endless gameplay, all in a 480x320 scene. Might have 2 types of game modes

    added the graphics for the ramps and stuff you draw, there sheets of ice

    the storyline is your a super penguin that can spray sheets of ice out to guide you, kinda like how the silver surfer does.

    The character will have animations of the ramps being sprayed out and formed from him

    also wil be adding a indicator like clumbsy bob for when the character is in the air above the screen

    i did a top-down and bottom up menu...but just on taps/clicks

    like how yours slides! total control!

    cant wait to see yours! The annoying part of this was getting the menu to constrain to touch but with an offset from the intiial touch, so it doesnt just jump to your finger as soon as you touch any part of it, and stays smooth. took alot of tinkering but got it :)

    Great game so far!! I have a few questions though...
    1. What's the FPS on devices?
    2. Are you going to sell it on the App Store?
    3. If so, WHEN CAN I BUY IT!!?
    4. Are the ice ramps final or are you going to make them respond a little better?

    Now some suggestions...
    One thing is to have different game difficulties... easy freezy [no obstacles, w/ notification at the top of the screen to show where the character comes back down when it goes off the screen (look up the Cookbook vid)],
    icy intermediate (with obstacles, but minimal, and the notification), and ho ho hard (twss :), or something along those lines that has lots of obstacles, maybe some enemies, and no notification to when your character goes off the screen...
    Next, I'm guessing your going to add a main menu, but if you weren't planning on it, please do because than you can sell it...
    Last, include some sort of death, like a penguin ghost floating up (or something along those lines)...
    Besides that, everything looks superb!!! Great job...

    Thanks alot for your kind words and suggestions oberning!

    Fps is around 50 on the iphone 4. Yes i plan to sell it in the appstore, hope to have it all finished by the contest end.

    And for your suggestions, im acutally in the process of adding the indicator in the game right now for when you jump above the screen. There wil be differtn difficultys as you suggestion with obsicales and stuff, im thinkgin enemies as well you have to try and land on and draw off them, as well as some things you can land on and slide across like glaciers and such.

    The ramps are extremely smooth on the device(we all know what youtube likes to do to videos), of course you get stuck if you draw a straight up and down ice ramp in front of you, bbut thats part of the game.

    And as for the menu, the sliding menu demo posted above is how it will be set up. There wil be the tital with some game animatiosn as well as a nice particle display (im a fan of particles if you havent notice ;) Then when you slide that menu down it wil have all the play buttons and such

    50 FPS... are you kidding me? That's AMAZING for the amount of particles you put in the game...
    Sounds great, and again, I can't wait to purchase it... Also, how'd you like some of my difficulty names? It took me like an hour (a couple of minutes :) too think of them...
