Marketplace... going downhill

Can the admins and mods of this site look into making changes to the marketplace? It’s become a pissing contest and it’s no longer enjoyable to browse. I used to check it daily to see if anything noteworthy has been posted. Lately.. I don’t even like to read new posts or ongoing threads.

Maybe until a member has proven their skill offer via video tutorials, free templates, etc (Like tshirtbooth has done).. or some other measurable proof, they should not have the right to start a new thread in the marketplace. Everyone should be able to reply and describe their experience with a template.. but a 14 year old who’s had GS for 2 weeks and changed a free game example’s actor color and 1 sound file should not be openly selling a template, IMO. It’s like GS allows their software to be used to try and rip people off..

Sorry for my rant..

I totally agree, that's why I can't wait for the new Marketplace that's coming soon. The marketplace is for buying/selling goods.....and an occasional slap in the face :P

What about a 14 year old whos had GS for 4 months and made an awesome template that no one has though of? :D
Jk, but I agree completely with your statement. Things like that are just ridiculous.

BTW- Does anyone know what features the new marketplace is supposed to have?

I dont check the market place much as the same templates seem to get bumped to the top....

At least the market place threads dont go into the main, recent posts section of the forum...

Sorry...but trying to get the word out:

Since we're on the subject of the market place:

As an extra plug...I'm now offering a professional animated ident service..and promos too...

I will be glad when there is a good marketplace. I hate seeing every post from one user bumped to the top to advertise a sale. It would be great if you had to be approved by GameSalad to offer templates or services in the marketplace. I think there needs to be some sort of vetting process and possibly even an age limit to offer products and services. Or at least and under 18 or over 18 disclosure.

It could be something divided by categories like buying, selling templates, selling services and other stuff. Also the people who sell templates should put them on the web for us to test. I bought a template for more than $20 (not saying the right amount because it would the be easy to know which one it is) and it looked good on pictures but it was not that good and nothing new to learn on it. It like false advertising. Also keep the service offerings on the market place. Sometimes you ask a question on the forum and people star telling you- "hey I can take a look if you want" then you say yes and the say- Of course, for this amount... and the emails. "i saw you ask this on the forum... I already have the solution. Do you want to hire my 1 on 1 services.

Seriously... keep it on the market place. And if you sell templates to prove they are good, let os tested on the web. There are some templates sellers that are really good but from my recent experience there are others that are not.

A nice separation for each service is nice to see coz right now its like chaos out there. :)

    Here's my 2-cents.

What other programs are there like GS out there? I mean, we can say that corona is 'similar' but i use the term 'similar' loosely. You still have to code with that program. Point is, Game Salad is a completely unique game concept that allows non-technical, non-programmers to be able to create incredible things.

It's revolutionary and, for lack of a better phrase, it's a game changer.

So of course it's going to have some serious issues. Especially in the beginning (I don't know how many of you know what things used to be like...way back in the day). Like, back when it was $2,000 for a professional package...etc.

I understand people's frustration, but keep in mind, we're still in beta people. If GS has been around for a few years, then we should really be upset.

But just keep telling yourself that we're still in the crawling phase, and we're definitely no where close to running, yet.

Stay positive folks, it only get's better!

Just today A member offering 1 on 1 help and game making service posted in the forums asking for help on how to do something that they were paid to do. I myself turned down that job because of how much work it will be to get working in a way it needs to be.

Nextgen just replied to your post saying it was his own project. LOL :D

SkyMaple I'll email you the project now. ITS MINE. Tshirtbooth, I understand your point of view, but now you've heard my project, & I'd appreciate if you could please post that I did not ask for help on something I was payed to do. Please.

Ayy Tshirt, I did not do this. I promise. Does my project really even relate to the project you're talking about just because it's math? And if you ask the guy now, SkyMaple was nice enough to help this http://gamesalad.com/forums/topic.php?id=23254 for FREE. Please ask the guy, this is NOT the project I'm working on. It is not on the forums, look if you want, it is simply mine.

I dont understand. I was just trying to help nextgen prove his point. I honestly dont know anything about his project. but how come I end up looking like an asshole when I'm helping a friend?

Right now I would really rather make my own game and make money off of that but I want to make some money for pro first (and maybe artwork?)

    enough.

the marketplace needs some serious attention, but i don't think the folks at GS want to deal with it right now, since they are working on replacement.

it's such a sorry state of affairs I don't even bother going in. I suggest we establish some marketplace rules with a sticky at the top and have people moderate it, but with the replacement coming this summer it's not worth the effort.

lets keep this on topic on how the MK needs improvement or just let the thread die. :)

Maybe it could be it's own forum with subgroups?

---Marketplace - anyone can sell here, not GS verified
    ----tshirtbooth - verified coder
    ----darren/utopia/deepblue - verified coder
    ----debug - artist - verified...
----verified - members with limited templates (not enough to warrant own forum)

This solves bumping issues, this solves deciphering who is worth sending your money, etc..

also, each member of their forum can block certain members (trolls) from viewing their forum???

If not, than members with, say, 10+ templates and positive feedback can get a sticky? inside the sticky is a video and payment info for ALL their templates in one thread?

I don't know.. I'm a nobody here and I'm no expert on anything GS related... I only hope that it can be the VALUABLE resource it was for me for new members down the road.

    ? maybe ?

I think a person should be able to make a post about their product with commenting disabled and not have it an open discussion. or at least be able to edit their own post.
  • RedlerTechRedlerTech Member Posts: 1,583
Regarding the I can do whatever GS will let me, I would have definitely changed that by now if GS forums would let me edit :/ Wish there wasn't an expiration on editing posts.

And this all crap has brought the level of marketplace so down that people want there game to be developed for mere $200-$300 with complete art code and music.
I think any decent game should not be developed less than a thousand dollars.
Its like a fish market now.

I would be more than happy to create a number of packs to justify my own section. If the general consensus is my work is sub standard then I would have my sticky removed without issue.
