I think something like the Marketplace should be monitored and controled only by paid GS employees. I see to many opportunities for Conflicts of Interest here. I dont think the Marketplace should be a place for users to have any control or offical opinions on. I like all you guys. But in regards to the MarketPlace......it should be officially ran by paid employees who have been given a Policy and set of rules to Mod the Marketplace. We cant have Sous Chefs selling and Moding and making official stands on how the market place should be ran. Im not saying anything bad is happening. Im just sayin having GS run this part and keep users out of the policy making would save us from alot of problems in the future.
THreads like this one wouldnt be needed if GS took care of the marketplace themselves.
I agree with Jeffnichols. You can't have sous-chefs with a financial interest controlling the marketplace forums (not that I don't trust you guys, I just don't trust anyone when it comes to money).
It would be nice to have some way to know who is a legit salesman. I would pay for Darren's, TSB's and a few other's templates because I know what they're capable of. But I've been here for over 4 months now so I know a thing or two about who is really legit and who is a fake.
Do you really want someone from GS to control the marketplace? Agreed, it needs some work. But I'd much rather them focus their energy on fixing the bugs and getting some other things worked out rather then fix the marketplace forums. That's probably not high on their priority list. AND, since they don't make any money on the marketplace, why would they fix it? You guys have to think about this as "GS is a business". This is not something that GS does so casual people can make money individually while they do this out of the kindness of their hearts... They have to get paid too (I'm sure they have families, car payments, rent/mortgage, etc. just like most of you... except for the 14 year olds on here. :-) ).
I agree. forums this and that. But when it comes to a Portal like the Marketplace... where it becomes a non GS controlled device that can be used and abused. Im not saying it is. But at this point in time its future and its policies are not truely governed by GS but those unpaid, veterans of GS who some may and maynot have monetary interests in the say of how and who can be on the market place. That alone means GS should either Take over the policies of the marketplace or drop it all together until they can take that 6.1 million and hire someone to monitor a Marketplace that is monitored with a SOP that was made by GS.
People who have a monetary interest in the way the marketplace is used. Should not be the people who have a say in how and who and when it can be used. That should be GS alone. I dont sell Art, sounds, temps, software, coding help, or one on one time. I have no interest in making money in the marketplace. So I am not pointing fingers nor have a hidden agenda. Im one of those who plays devils advocate when it come to things that have issues and problems. And the final say in things like this should be GS. not veterans who have been here longer or shorter or people who have been here 2 weeks. The moment there is a disagreement with a issue. Especially somoething like how the marketplace should be ran or is being ran. Then GS should step in and make official rules for Moderators to go by. Moderators cant make GS decisions based on personal opinion alone. There has to be a GS standard.
This is a community and as such we should manage ourselves.
A dedicated, over-seeing, resource on a marketplace by GS would cost far too much and be a waste of energy as they need to concentrate on their core business which is GS. Taking a small percentage of each marketplace transaction would not earn enough to pay for a employee.
The guys that co-ordinate the forums that DO have a vested interest in the market place are best positioned to improve it as they can see the issues which getting noticed. No one wants to see a marketplace in which the 1st page are all the templates by TSB. But at the same time I want LOTS more templates.
Stickies for the people with 10+ products sounds ok.

I'm not seeing this. The community seems to be in better shape now, when compared to the days of $1999 pro, no splash screens or the GameSalad Direct® fiasco.
I think the marketplace will improve when GameSalad starts an official GameSalad Marketplace. Heh, there will likely be issues when that launches too, but I think the community is growing nicely. There are a lot of new people here that are excited about the software.
In no way shape or form was I pointing any fingers at TSB or any individual or group. I was stating on examples as to why GS should monitor the MP and set up some type of allowed and not allowed policy. Will be abused? Probably not. Could it be abused? Yes. Would GS setting up its own sheriff to monitor whats allowed and not allowed, based on their pre determined policies prevent such actions. Yes. Is it needed at this time... no. But like most laws. You arent forced to wear steel toe shoes until someone has lost a toe. Hopefully the future MP will have some type of system installed. Im not saying there is or was a problem. But this post showed me a glimpse in what the forum would be like for a week if that kind of problem came up. Once again, Not at anytime did I have TSB or anyone in mind when I wrote those responses.
As a purchaser of services and templates, I think the best thing to do is to vet out/do your research before making a purchase/buying a product. It is a forum, so if you aren't sure about something, just make a post in the thread to ask other users their opinion, or email them personally. For every purchase I've made, there are probably 2 or 3 I considered and researched before deciding NOT to purchase. No one can force you to send them your hard earned money so you just need to make them earn it.
If you have a bad experience, there is nothing that says you can't tell other users, and there is nothing that says the seller can't defend themselves. Most items are $50 or less, so even if someone makes a bad purchase it isn't the end of the world. For a larger purchase I would think someone would do their homework.

I wasnt trying to take this off topic, just wanted to inject some humour into a very serious problem.

my thoughts anyway...
Completely agree with debug. That will be really clean and free from clutter.
