blocking out students or 'bad' developers with a $99 fee will not matter.. it just assumes that bad developers don't have $99 for a membership..?

besides for every 100 bad ones there is 1 good one and i personally feel that its good to have a platform where the good ones will eventually service to the top.

I say its up to Apple, they have the store we all bring our product to.. they don't have to sell anything they don't like... that said its a open free market so just let the consumer decide.

I think this is why we should do a GS Game Jam friendly competition. That way we can educate the 14 year old budding game designers that creativity and style are most important to game design, not rubbish template stealing poor quality games. It doesn't matter if GS is $500 or $5000, what matters is the creative design that comes out of it.

That's the great thing about flash. The first thought is "wow! I can make a game with this!", not "Wow! I can make money!" Gyroscope is right. The rose-tinted glasses cause bad games because there is this idea that if it's on the App Store, it will make money.

And this is something I wanted to mention in an older thread of the exact same nature.

Someone said, "Who are we to tell someone else that their game isn't good."

Well.... the audience. GameSalad's community is very diverse, and that's what makes us a great barometer for how a game will sell. If we see a game posted on here that doesn't look good, and we know we won't buy it, then that's what we need to tell people. Lying to a person, telling them great job, despite the fact that it's their first game or they're 12 years old DOES NOT HELP ANYTHING IN THE LONG RUN.

Don't just tell them it sucks, be nice and point things out they can change or do better. But for the love of Jeebus, don't tell them CONGRATS! just because they made a game with GameSalad. It's gamemaking for everyone, so just doing it doesn't deserve congratulations.

Hey, you wrote your first sentence in Word! CONGRATS!

But seriously... people need to stop bitching about everything and go back to working on games... especially me.

The price is pretty generous actually. I used to pay 100$ per year because I couldn't afford 2000$. Now it's free and I can even think about eventually getting pro for 500$.

I just hope they will be able to work on the core of the GameSalad, and not just the pro features.

The GS team have done both right from the beginning, so there's no reason to believe that'll change; no worries, I say. :-)

In case this thread continues to be an ever-spinning argument with no resolution or agreement, I'll call this closed.
